They’re still operating, and the wii is a guaranteed seller, so why not?

If nothing else, it may generate foot traffic that’ll help them clear out the rest of their crap.
The Wii was definitely the only good deal I saw. They had a lot of GH World Tour boxes (guitar and drums) for $161. We’ve seen better deals than that. They were trying to sell a Samsung 61" HDTV for $2100, and I know Amazon has that same model for less than $1500. Computer monitors were jacked up to list price and then slightly discounted, no deals there. So it was mostly “meh”, but when I came across the Wii’s for $225, I thought I was seeing things. I’m guessing they were on backorder before the liquidation began.
It makes sense. If you have a stockload of things no-one wants and you are going to take a loss on, you might as well keep buying things that are guaranteed to sell (generating some profit) while you still can.
Those orders were probably placed and paid for months ago.
It doesn’t work that way. You cannot buy more product once you’re in liquidation.
The Wiis probably were ordered before the liquidation occurred or were in the warehouse when they made the decision and only made it to stores now. There’s also the possibility that the liquidator brought them in.
There’s also probably no profit in a Wii selling at $225. It’s likely to be selling for a loss.
Not sure if this is a deal, but what the heck: Amazon has Secret Weapons Over Normandy (PC) for $5.

Consoles sell, for the retailer, at about 2-3 dollars of profit at best, so it’s definitely a loss. But it gets people thinking there are good deals there, which makes them buy things that the liquidators overpriced before the reduction.
SWON’s demo was pretty good, I thought. I’ll spend that 5 bucks. Although now it’s backordered, and there are 22 copies for sale that might be less via marketplace. Looks like a lot for under 5 bucks there.
Amazon has Killzone 2 for pre-order for $52 with coupon code KZ2SAVE5.
Goddamn. Wish I’d waited on the other expansions now. I never even finished Nightfall.
Today only, Microcenter has Rock Band 2 (X360 game only) for $30. Free in-store pickup or shipping is $6.
They’ve also got Too Human for $20.
Heads up for anyone ordering from Amazon. Killzone 2 releases on Friday, February 27th, but the current estimated delivery date with one day shipping is Tuesday, March 3rd. I’m not sure if this will be ironed out prior to release as typically one day shipping with Amazon results in getting the game the release date, but for anyone that wants it for playing over that weekend, keep this in mind.
No Steam weekend deal this weekend?
They usually don’t announce it until early afternoon or so.
Nothing yet, but you can always seem them in the list on the right of this page under Steam News…

If you’re a twitter user, Valve also tweets the weekend deal, all their patches, new games added to the service, and so on. Pretty low volume, their profile is:
