I think it also has to do with the ad content - it’s more expensive, even on the newsstands. Nonetheless, I’ll pull the trigger on that. I just wish I knew why in the hell Future won’t print a run of it over here, if only for subscribers and not to send to newsstands. I guess I just don’t know enough about magazine business economics.

As others have said, I think it has to do with the fact that the magazine is published in the UK and has to be shipped over here. My understanding is that the physical composition of the magazine itself is of pretty high quality as well, though I’ve never actually had my hands on one before. I’m just bummed that I could’ve saved a good amount of cash had I just waited.

It doesn’t just survive, it typically sells out at the Barnes and Nobles and Borders that I frequent while all the other gaming mags languish on the shelves.

Edge is f-ing awesome and well worth the money. It has few ads, and the content is pretty much universally well written. It’s worth every penny.

Would you mind elaborating? I have heard of the magazine, even paged through it at bookstores, but could never pull the trigger on the $12 or so it cost to actually pick one up. Is the content and quality of writing that much better? To phrase my question differently, what can be found in Edge that we couldn’t get from the internet?

Go there and read a bunch of the features and “FROM EDGE MAGAZINE” section http://www.edge-online.com/magazine. Now, combine that with a very pretty layout, thick paper, really nice screenshots and some other stuff that never makes it on the web site and you’ve got the magazine.

Also, the features on the site are usually pretty far behind the actual magazine.
