Yeah, I’ve played both versions. The only thing that’s radically different between the two for me is that the graphics on the PC version are much better, and none of my friends own the PC version, so the social experience for me on the 360 version is much better.

Bah, Steam won’t let me buy Left 4 Dead. I keep trying but it’s telling me to enter my state/province when I try to check out, even though I’ve tried every variation of FL, Fl, FLORIDA, Florida etc known to man.

I sent a ticket, but does anyone know if they’ll honor the reduced price if this isn’t cleared up by Monday?

Weren’t you able to enter the state from a pull down menu? That’s odd it wants you to type it in. Were you making the purchase from the web site or Steam the app?

Yeah, I guess I’ll wait. Twenty-five bucks is cheap, but I’ll mostly be playing alone. I’ll wait until it gets packed in with an expansion/sequel/another valve title or drops under 20 bucks.

I keep wanting to get a 360, but I never know which SKU to pick up. What’s the right HDMI-capable pack at the moment?

They don’t skimp on HDMI anymore. I’ve seen Elites go for $320 with Amazon sales. Go with the cheaper Premium if you’re not going to use media.

Slickdeals is saying
Arcade 160
Pro 240
Elite 320

Those all have HDMI, but I need to buy a hard drive for the Arcade? The Arcade isn’t backwards-compatible, either, I guess.

It’s just the lack of a hard drive that prevents the backwards-compatible games from working on the Arcade, and it then works fine if you add a drive to it.

Unlike some others that replied, I don’t find single-player tedious at all. Certainly, playing alone doesn’t come close to matching the co-op experience but it’s still fun, IMHO. And for $25 you cannot go wrong…

How do you figure Valve chooses the Weekend Deal? Do other publishers pay them to put their games on sale, or is it done for free? Is L4D on sale this weekend because nobody else was interested?

That sounds wonderful. Thanks, Tciecka!

Is there any way to get email alerts of Steam deals?

It’s on sale this weekend because of Friday the 13th.

There wasn’t a pulldown menu, which was odd. I guess it got fixed because I was able to purchase it today.

In general, though.

Circuit city has some good sales right now. If you don’t have a 360, you can get them for cheap. They have Pro (xmas bundles) going for 225 right now.

I picked up Kings Bounty for 20 and Pokemon Diamond for 20.

Some good deals.

I don’t think they do a newsletter, but I could be wrong.

All you have to do is open Steam on a Friday/Saturday though. You’ll get the ad popup for the weekend deal.

I know they have a Twitter feed that gets updated with the sale.

Direct2Drive has Puzzle Quest for $10.
