Crimson Skies rocked - I never did finish it.
I’d like to be able to load it on the laptop and play it without the CD, though … Is there a legitimate repository for developer-released cracks on older games? Or something?
Or will I have to wait for it to come to some digital store?

So is $5 for LoTRo good? I just went to the site, and can find all sorts of “Play for 10 days free!” come ons, but no info on how much they’re going to charge me afterwards. Do they just start my $15/month or do they charge me something like $20 downloading the complete game + $15/month?
I think it’s $40 for the complete game + 15/month. The $40 for the complete game includes Mines of Moria, the expansion though. If you’ve never started a LOTRO character, then $5 is a great deal. But if you have a 10-day free character, or a character from the early beta days, etc., then you can’t continue those with the $5 original LOTRO, you’ll have to create a new character. Just keep in mind that if you ever do want to upgrade to Mines of Moria, you’ll have to pay the $40 anyway, if you want to continue playing with that character that you’re playing with, I believe. So it’s kind of complicated. I’m not 100% sure on that last part. Maybe they do let you continue a $5 Lotro character onto Moria with a cheap retail Moria that you might find in the store in later years.

Steam’s weekend deal is Red Orchestra for $4.99. It was just updated with Steam achievements and a new map.
Impulse’s weekend deals are up too (there a war on to see who can start their deals earliest in the week?):
GalCiv II Ultimate Edition - $40
MotoGP 08 - $30
Dungeon Lords Collector’s Edition - $10
Safecracker - $10
Genesis Rising: The Universal Crusade - $10
Cellblock Squadrons - $5
The Wizardry fan in me is almost tempted to give in to morbid curiosity about Dungeon Lords…
For ten bucks I have to admit I’m also tempted.
Are there any good PC motorcycle grand prix games?

Do NOT do it. Dungeon Lords is a goddamn travesty of a game. It makes Ultima 9 look like, well, Ultima 7.

Great deal! I love this game.
Is Starsiege Universe any good? I can’t even find any information on it via a quick google, and could go for some mecha action.
Or is it some sort of Tribes dealie?
Edit: Aaaaaaaand I’m retarded.
Is Starsiege worth 5 bucks?
Is it even Vista compatible?

It’s Tribes1 (FPS) and Starsiege1+2 (mech games) in one package.
Please see my edit.
Are the Starsiege games worth five bucks?
And will I be able to get them running on Vista without too much trouble?
I like mech stuff, so this may be a good buy for me, but I don’t want to fork over money for another disk to pointlessly clutter up the house if it won’t run.

I mainly remember that Starsiege had great graphics at the time, as it was the dawn of the 3DFX. Gameplay wise, I found (and still do find!) that Mechwarrior was far superior.

Don’t buy Genesis Rising.
No support from the developers and serious issues on a considerable percentage of player machines.
People are reporting that their Best Buys have restocked these items. So if you didn’t have any luck finding these titles a week ago, you may want to check today (Sunday), since today’s the last day of the deal.
