I really liked the Earthsiege/Cyberstorm stuff; I think $5 is probably well worth it, but I couldn’t tell you if it’d work on your system or not, hadn’t played it in a long time. They are Win95 games and probably should work but who knows.

I remember Cyberstorm still being interesting for coming with two CDs so you could give one to a pal.

Alas, only one of them anywhere near me shows stock of Crysis. What’s the regular price of that these days, 30 bones?

Right, it’s thirty, and the Best Buy coupon gives you twenty off.

Don’t trust the online, by the way. My local store’s inventory was wrong.

Call in when it isn’t busy, someone will check the shelf for you.

Wallace and Gromit from Tell Tale Games. Preorder the pc version now and get $8.95 off (total of $26) and get an episode of Strong Bad and Sam n Max free.

Amazon Gold Box deal o’ the day: GHWT for $119.98 (PS3/360/Wii) or $109.98 (PS2). That’s for the full kit; the gold box hint for the 6am deal suggests it’ll be the GHWT + guitar bundle.

dang, thats a good deal just for the instruments.

6am deal is the GHWT guitar pack (game + guitar) for Wii, $60.

Has the 120GB drive for the 360 ever been on sale? I keep checking this thread with endless optimism.

I’ve seen people post a few drops for the 120, but never reaching $:GB, if that’s your breaking point.

The best deal is usually to find it used at GameStop during a sale or coupon event. My brother just grabbed one for what worked out to about…$70 or so? His math might be wrong, though.

There are ways to obtain an off the shelf 120GB laptop hard drive for about $55 and convert it for use with an Xbox 360. I’m not sure what the legal implications of doing so would be, outside of voiding any warranty you have on your original hard drive, but it seems to be a fairly simple process from what I’ve heard.

It has. I bought it when it used to be almost $200, regular price, but on sale as the DotD at Amazon for $130. Then recently when the official price dropped down to $160, Amazon had it for $135 as the regular price for a long time. Unfortunately, that’s gone up now, and Amazon is still the cheapest for a new one at $147. If you’re willing to buy a used one, Amazon 3rd party sellers currently sell used ones for around $90, and ebay seems to sell used ones for around $80. But that doesn’t come with a transfer cable like a new one does.

Amazon has never had a big sale on it since it’s new lower MSRP, so hope springs eternal. Maybe one day it’ll be the deal of the day at around $110. Who knows?

I see used ones at Amazon for $85 … those are getting into a range where I might consider it. They come from Elite units though. Will those fit into a regular 360?

Yes. I got mine used from an Elite unit, since it seems to be store policy to strip the hard drives off the machines. It’s the same basic device - the Elite ones are just painted black.

Interesting. Ok, thanks for the info!

I still have the cable and disc somewhere I think if anyone in the US needs it and bought used and cannot get the cable /disc from MS.

fyi, if you call microsoft and tell them that you are upgrading your hdd to a 60gb, they will send you a transfer kit for free. just got mine in the mail.

Ah coo, didnt know if they asked for the new Hd serial or whatever.

the person i was talking to didn’t give me a hard time. i pretty much just told them i was upgrading and needed a transfer kit. it went pretty smoothly.

Pay attention to the HDD the kit came with. The early versions only work with the 120gig drives. If you plug a 60 in, the software will sit there and say ‘I’m waiting for the drive to be plugged in’. Not all of the transfer kits support all of the HDD models.
