I dunno about you guys, the the red controller feels like it has a significantly better d-pad to me. Maybe its just mine, but i tried to go back to one of my old gen d-pads and it was pretty rough. Can anyone coorborate that this had any updates ( like the update to the limited edition gree sf4 pad )

I had the same experience. My red controller’s dpad is perfect, especially when compared to my white and black controllers.

Another vote for the red controller. I love mine.
That’s a typical occurrence in hardware design. Via CPI (Continuous Process Improvement), companies will continuously identify shortcomings in a hardware design and improve upon the design, much like Microsoft is doing with the 360 console. As long as the improvements do not affect “form, fit, or function,” companies can incorporate these improvements without releasing a new model number (i.e., the change is transparent to the consumer). So, the D-pad on white controllers packaged with launch 360s will not function as well as the D-pad on black controllers packaged with Elite units, which will not function as well as the D-pad on red controllers. There are likely additional improvements in the controllers of which we (consumers) are not aware.

Direct2Drive has Space Siege for $9.99. Thats probably the price that game should have been released at.
Amazon is offering Wanted: Weapons of Fate for $42.99 (360) and $44.99 (PS3). I don’t think I can resist at this price.
I dunno’, mate … You might want to hold out.
It’s not bad as such … The mechanics are pretty solid.
The gunfighting is alright, but the levels are tedious, and the mid-level, emplaced-weapons shooting galleries seem like an afterthought.
I actually managed to make a good deal of progress while chatting with my brother on the phone last night …
Might want to give it a rental first.
If Gamefly wasn’t a complete and utter sham, I would give it a rent, but they seem determined to never send me a game ever again. $40 is my tipping point on games. I can resist at $60, but the closer a game nudges to $40, the more open my wallet becomes.
I’d recommend thirty if you’ve got anything at all going otherwise. It’s a slower month, but Godfather 2 comes out next week …
I don’t think you’ll be terribly unhappy with it anyhow, Steve, given what I understand about your preferences. It has very pure mechanics and an honest investment from the developers.
Speaking of Gamefly, I see Star Wars: TFU is back down to $19.99 pre-played. Is it worth it at that price, or am I better off waiting for the inevitable Platinum Hits version?
Ha ha! That’s a really nice way of saying that you realize I’ve expressed a preference for middling games in the past, or more simply, that I have kind of bad taste. I love that you took my feelings into account there. I do appreciate you trying to steer me clear of Wanted, but in this case you can’t save me from myself. I went ahead and ordered it.
It’s up - and pretty blah, IMHO. DotD is Wii Music & Airport Mania for $30. First Lightning deal is Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party for $30. Hints for the remaining deals (times are Eastern):
1PM: Start training now.
5PM: The Milky Way’s got nothing in comparison.
6PM: Give me a W! Give me an I! Give me another I! What does that spell?
9PM: That’s so cute! The animals think they’re people!
I hope you enjoy it, Steve! Maybe I’m a little more Sally than I think, but I just can’t get into a game that directly insults me for playing it.
Is that a When Harry Met Sally reference?
The answer to this question depends directly on how much you like story and what you’re willing to do for it. I would say that the story bits of the game are easily the best Star Wars since basically forever. I would have loved to watch this television show. The actual gameplay is kind of a turd sandwich for me, though, so you’ve got to balance that. My main problems had to do with a camera that hated me, a jump mechanic that seemed hard for me to personally control (YMMV), and some profanity-inducing QTEs. If you think you can deal with that stuff without throwing your controller against the wall, then yeah - probably a good deal at $20. I have a notoriously short temper with video games and even though I got into some absolutely magnificent screaming matches with my television, I did eventually finish it, and I don’t finish that many games. I will never, ever play it again, but I’m not entirely sorry I did.
Long story short, yes if you like good Star Wars stories. No if you don’t like competent-but-incredibly-frustrating third person action games so much you’d murder them with your bare hands if they were people.
Naw. Just Sally Sensitive*. It’s shorthand a few friends of mine and I use, which leads me to forget that it hasn’t yet caught on with the rest of the world.
*It’s possible that this is actually a Scrubs reference.
The second and third weren’t really issues for me. You can’t fail a QTE, it just restarts, so it’s not too bad. However, the first is enough to cover everything. A targeting system based on where the character is pointing rather than where the camera is pointing? Really? Terrible design.
Also, you’ve got combat that is fun in early levels and grows very, very tedious as you come across more and more force-proof or lightsaber-proof enemies.
More like you seem to appreciate solid, focused gameplay than I generally do, and are open to seeing a game through even if it doesn’t grab you wholly, whereas I prefer to sample and move on.
I can’t exactly accuse you of bad taste - I’m the other guy that likes Kane and Lynch.
Batting with the nerfsaber.
I wasn’t insulted. I do have questionable taste. I’ll make sure to post impressions.
