Most Target stores I’ve been to don’t have such a section, so don’t worry, you’re not missing out on super-awesome deals, more than likely.

Mine puts clearance games on an endcap facing the TV wall.

Every Target store I’ve ever been to in multiple states always has a clearance section. Even the brand new one here in Reading had it within a week of opening. You just have to know where to look for it. Sometimes it’s near the videogames. Sometimes it’s near or within electronics. Sometimes it’s with the computer software. Other times it’s a few aisles away from there near the pens and pencils and Crayola aisle. Finally, sometimes it’s mixed in with the books.

You just have to wander around until you find it. I’ve never been in a Target that didn’t have it. It’s just not something that will be shouting CLEARANCE at you. You have to look. Also, it will move around the store to any of the above locations without warning. If you think they got rid of it, they didn’t. It’s just been moved elsewhere. Walk around and you’ll always find it.

Also, if the game isn’t under $30, but is on clearance, it will often still be in the glass cases. Last Remnant hung out in the main 360 case for $41.98 for awhile and then they liberated it when it went down to $29.98.

I will admit that even though I’ve looked near and around the video game software and the computer software areas, I’ve never looked for the clearance bin near the pens and pencils and Crayola aisles, or the book sections. I find it a little hard to believe that they would do that, but I guess now I have a new goal any time I go to the 4+ Targets near me.

Where they stick it seems largely random and may actually change from time to time. PC deals may sometimes stay in the PC section, and frequently you will have to dig through a pile of kids titles and SingStar Abba and such to find anything exciting. You also have to weigh whether something is worth it at the current price vs the chances of there still being any copies at all by the time it might be reduced.

In other words, it’s the most exciting shopping experience to be had at a big box store.

Mine has an end cap half a store away from the regular video game aisle, in the automotive area. It’s really strange. Obviously they don’t want to sell this stuff …

Direct2Drive has a really big ubisoft deal going.

Far Cry 2 + Fortunes Pack DLC = $17.50
Assassin’s Creed = $9.95
Call of Juarez = $4.95
ect…

Also, Gamersgate has Dark Sector for $13.99

Wow - Far Cry 2, here I come …

So I wound up buying the Demigod CE on amazon marketplace for $2 cheaper than most places have the regular. How the heck are these guys getting stuff that cheap, are they stealing it or just have better connections?

Yeah, just to add my voice to the chorus, the Target clearance section in my experience has always been stuck on an endcap, a few aisles away from the main game section. It usually has a bunch of non-game clearance stuff stacked on there, as well.

holy crap, now gamersgate is having their own ubisoft sale:

Assassin’s Creed - $9.95
Far Cry 2 - $14.95
Prince of Persia - $24.95
End War - $24.95
HAWX - $37.49
World in Conflict Soviet Assault - $14.95

will the insanity never end?!

Amazon has a Gold Box Deal going for the complete Babylon 5 series on DVD for $105.49. It’s normally $299.98.

If I could just buy seasons 2,3,and 4 for $60 I’d consider it.

Its Ubisoft week at Gamersgate with alot of titles at 50% off, including games like Assassins Creed, Far Cry 2, etc…

I wonder if D2D and GG are responding to Valve’s statement of bigger numbers from bargain pricing. I’ve certainly never looked twice at either service because their “sales” used to be only enough to get down to regular street price, but in the last few months they’ve changed that a lot.

And likely pulling in more money than ever. Great all around.

Hooray for competition!

Keep you eyes open at Costco. That’s where I eventually completed my set at about $15 or so a season.

Newegg has the GTA IV SE (X360) for $40. “The Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition is presented in a customized Grand Theft Auto metal safety deposit box. The box contains a GTA IV artbook, a CD soundtrack, a keychain, and a limited edition duffle bag.”

Also, here’s a scan of next week’s Best Buy game ad: Fable II and HAWX will be on sale for $30.

Why doesn’t Best Buy ever run decent PC game sales as frequently as they used to? Seems like since Circuit City went under, they just aren’t trying anymore. The Sims 2 and Bejeweled Twist? Pshaw.
