seems like a nice price for this game. Is this game that good? I JUST entered the online world because I am really enjoying Demigod.

ps. I’d rather not wad through the L4D thread, so if that’s the best you can offer, feel free to ignore me ;-)

It’s going to be free on Saturday if you want to try it first.

It’s free for one day right now so try it out. I think it’s well worth it, getting assloads of playing time out of it, and the new pack just came out. Still tons of fun.

If you don’t have friends to play around with, I’d stay away from it. I wouldn’t recommend it as a single player game, or even as a Co-op game. There are much better Co-op games out there, like Saints Row 2, and others. The real core of the game that really shines and makes it different from other games is the Versus mode. And it’s really awesome when you get to play the zombies. After you play that, even Co-op becomes a training ground for Versus mode.

“Hey that’s a really good place to hide. I’ll have to remember that”.

In my experience though, versus mode is much, much better when played with people you know instead of strangers.

I disagree, I quite enjoy the Campaign mode when I can play it with reasonable people (ones I know or QT3 folk). The way it plays and the overall experience is very different and well worth it, I think. I do like the versus mode too though. Great for messing around with random games or if you’ve got several friends that all want to play.

Every part of the game is considerably better when played with friends.

Pretty much every part of most of any game is considerably better when played with friends.

That being said, it’s not as if every experience with strangers sucks ass in L4D. PUGs are PUGs, for good and bad. And inevitably even your friend-only events will have someone you don’t know playing one way or another.

Plus there’s no guarantee you’ll have a great experience with friends either; I play in a few QT3 match sessions and I’m terrible.

Looks like the real Steam weekend deal is Tom Clancy®’s HAWX for $30 (40% off).

i bought it. If there’s qt3 players, that’ll work for me.

ps. Now, wonder if I should snag Plants vs Zombies preorder so as to get the free game with it.

Yeah, it’s one of the clearance titles, I believe… Saw it there yesterday, along with one copy of Supreme Commander for the 360, and a bunch of drek.

Yeah, I’ve had the game for a while and I haven’t once played the Versus mode.

I’m not particularly interested in competitive online play, but I love me some co-op.

I definitely feel like I got my money’s worth (even for the annoyingly more-expensive 360 version) just with the co-op part.

Anyone looking for a download version of Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, gamergate has it for $7.49 this weekend.

GoGamer currently has Men of War (albeit in import form) for $20. You need this game, you really do.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Xbox 360 ( XB360 )

$45 in store.

They’ve also got End War for $15. Find out why Tom and I love it and everyone else doesn’t!

Awesome Direct2Drive sale going on now on Aspyr games.

This means the digital version of Men of War is $14.95, as well as recently released Cryostasis for $14.95. Great prices on these!

GoGamer has Little Big Planet (import) for $25.

Also, if you missed out on Quantum of Solace at last week’s $10 Best Buy sale - and, for some reason, this upsets you - you have a second chance of scoring it for $10. BB has a $20 off QoS RZ coupon and the list price is $30, making it $10 (again).

I’d pickup Quantum of Solace for $10, but I have a feeling I won’t be able to locate a copy at Best Buy after the big sale last week.

If it were GamersGate, or Steam, or Impulse I’d be a lot more excited. Direct2Drive still caps the number of times you can download the game you bought.

no they don’t. you can download your game as many times as needed.

Being gamers ourselves, D2D knows that there are always those unexpected occurrences—like your hard drive frying or a virus infection—that threaten your precious digital content. D2D’s Download Protection helps put those worries to rest! D2D allows you to re-download your digital game purchases at no cost. So every time you download from D2D you’ll get a great game and peace of mind.

D2D works pretty much the same as Gamersgate.

Fable II is only $30 at Amazon right now. I suspect that they’re matching this week’s price at Best Buy. Best game of 2008.
