I enjoyed Chosen – it was an interesting Diablo-clone during a dry season of ARPGs. I would rank it higher than Loki or Space Seige, lower than Titan Quest and Sacred 2.

Definitely worth $2.50 … but there may be better ways to spend your time, now.

New Conspiracy Theory:

We’ve finally shamed GG and D2D into giving us some good sales worthy of posting. Could Steam have flooded the market (so to speak) and is now content to merely give a small sale to follow their competitors? Perhaps they know people will pay an extra $11 for Men of War just to have it on Steam.

Man, they must feel really dense to have held out for so long. I’ve been spending more money than ever on downloads.

Must have outstripped my regular new game purchases by $4:1 …

Thinkingork mentioned this over in the Plants vs Zombies thread, but Steam has Defense Grid: The Awakening for $5 (75% off) until May 13.

And Cubit mentioned it in this thread, on the last page, but it’s quoted at the start of this one, too…

If everyone’s falling all over each other to post that deal, I suppose I ought to give it a try.

Er, in that it’s not a section about protecting themselves from liability in case they go out of business or entirely delete your account?

Both of those are risks you take any time you purchase a digital game. I’m not disputing that. D2D’s Terms of Use specifically provide for a) games not being redownloadable at all, b) games being redownloadable only a certain arbitrary number of times, and c) changing whether either of those things is true for any given game whenever they want. At least as far as I can tell. Maybe there aren’t actually any games that fall into categories a) or b) at the moment. I don’t know, but I have no interest in doing business with a company that doesn’t have a blanket unlimited redownload policy like Steam does.

and thats totally your right to feel that way. i just have not personally experienced, nor heard of anyone else, who has had trouble re-downloading a game multiple times. that being the case, i have no problem with taking advantage of some of the games on sale at D2D.

Steam’s weekend deal is Universe at War for $4.99

Thanks to this thread, I picked up 3 new 360 games for $50 total. Rock on, bargain thread!

Never heard of this one, but im rather getting into RTS games having played Demigod for the last month.

Worth picking up for £5 anyone played it?

I’d say yes. It’s a good but not great RTS done by Petroglyph, the folks behind Star Wars: Empire at War. It does the three different sides thing (see: StarCraft) and does a decent job with it. That’s actually high praise, even if it doesn’t sound like it.

For 5 bucks, absolutely. I own the retail version, but I’d prefer to have it on Steam. Am I lame enough to purchase it on Steam for the sake of convenience…?

I tried to find the 360 version during the $10 Best Buy sale, but struck out.

Ok buying. Damn sales!

Universe at War: is this a fairly traditional RTS (Age of Empires, Starcraft, Warcraft, Total Annihilation) or one of these new-fangled tactics-heavy, resource-free games?

The former I believe. It was made by the ex- westwood guys.

Yeah it is very westwoody.

Yes, the former.

It’s a pretty cool game that has some significant performance problems.

score; my $5 is theirs as soon as I get home :)
