GH:M doesn’t come with a guitar controller - might be the first GH not to offer a bundle, actually - so you’d need to buy one of those. You used to be able to buy a wired controller for $10 at Circuit City; dunno where the best deal would be now.
What I need to do is just buy Rock band. I can drum like a maniac if my desk-top-tapping skillz are any indication.

Make sure you buy the Rock Band 2 kit, then, because the hardware is WAYYY better than the Rock Band 1 stuff.
And yes, (almost) all the GH and RB titles are hardware compatible now that Activision stopped being dicks about it and patched their titles.
Also, unless you’re functionally crippled in your left hand, I wouldn’t worry too much about getting to workable status on guitar if that’s a serious concern. Easy starts out with you not moving your hand at all (though it has you leave your hand in the wrong place for doing Hard later) and Medium only has the fifth note on extremely rare occasion, mostly when the guy doing the chart wanted to be a dick in the middle of a song and screw up your streak.
The ECA’s 10% discount codes for Amazon are back! Better get to them before I do. :)
Hmm … so the rock band 2 instruments would work if I were to buy GH:Metallica? That has me interested…

FYI/FWIW, I stopped in at GameStop this afternoon to pick up Spiderman 2 (which I’ve never played, and seems to have a good Crackdown Quotient, or whatever we’re calling the new review metric…), and they’re currently offering 25% off (35% with Edge card) of used original Xbox games.
I don’t know how long that’s going for, but they also informed me they’re no longer taking original Xbox games for trade, so they’re probably trying to clear stock.
If it’s the 360 version you’re talking about, I’ve got an extra wired Xplorer controller, new in box, that is just taking up space. You can have it for the cost of shipping, if you like. No, it’s not the best controller at all, but it works.

Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it – but I have a Wii.
Just the one what?
If you’re referring to the controller, yeah. I’ve got couple of wireless Les Pauls, but those are for me. The Xplorer came with GH:WT as part of a RedOctane deal.
Sigh. Once more, with feeling. What you are purchasing with your money is the ability to rent videogames and have them delivered to your mailbox. That’s it. Gamefly also would like to sell you video games, so from time to time they provide you with a coupon to help incentivize that. Would it be nicer if the coupon didn’t expire? Sure. But they are in no way screwing you by having a string or two on that free extra.
And I guess they may not be useful to you, but three months is a really long time to find a game that I’d like to buy from Gamefly. I’ve never had one expire on me.
Damn it, EB! I went to buy Spiderman 2, and you put a Spiderman disc in the case! Argh! I guess I’ll have to go back there tomorrow.
Don’t talk down to me. I’m not a moron and your argument isn’t aided by you being a jerk about it. And typing the word sigh? Really?
If the “rewards” are an incentive to keep me subscribed for consecutive months, then by subscribing for consecutive months, I’m buying entitlement to those rewards. If I cancel and re-up the very next day, I don’t have access to the rewards anymore. The “rewards” are not free. They’re not even close to free. There is nothing free about the rewards. Your repeated statements that they’re free are dead wrong. If the fact that the coupons are a paid component of continued subscription doesn’t change your opinion that it’s great that the coupons expire and you can never have more than $5 at a time, fine. But it doesn’t change their nature and it sure doesn’t change my opinion that it’s a complete garbage policy on GF’s part.
Moreover, three months is plenty of time to find a game I like. But $5 is never going to be incentive enough to buy a game from them that I wouldn’t have already bought. That’s why it’s so dumb that I can’t bank those coupons to $10 or $15, where it would make a nice dent in the price of a used game.
SIGH
Though I agree with you Steve, on the basis that I just hate gamefly.
What I’ve learned from the Bargain Thread lately is that you’d be hard-pressed to find a group with a greater sense of entitlement than PC gamers. If you are so dissatisfied with the service and think it’s a poor use of your money, then unsubscribe. If not, stop complaining about it.
EDIT: Banking those coupons for $10 or $15 would mean that you’ve saved $15 on a purchase rather than $15 on 3 purchases, which is what they want. Think about what you would do if you were in charge of the service and your primary goal was to make as much money as possible.
I won’t talk down to you, I’ll just be a total dick.
Nobody cares about your fucking coupons. Now shut the fuck up and leave this thread for actual bargains.
i see we’re having a clearance sale on attitude today.
Fuck you, there’s children starving in Africa and you are hoarding toothpaste.
