Man, if I didn’t already have the backlog from hell, I’d go for this in a heartbeat.

Still not worth it.

Via @GamerDeals, Amazon.com has X-Men Origins Wolverine (360) for $33.49 ($38.49 - $5.00 coupon code XMENWLV5).

Amazon also has The Sims 3 for $39.99 (as does Best Buy).

Don’t install the software. Almost all of the extra buttons will still work with the default Windows mouse drivers.

Unless games only respond to mouse one thru three. I end up having to repogram my extra buttons as page up, page down, home and end. Besides being useful on the desktop, most games will see those settings.

Yes, I’m still using my G5 like that, and the forward and back buttons on the side still work (as well as buttons 1, 2 and 3), but my beloved fast-scroll (aka “cruise”) buttons do not, and nothing but the Logitech software will make them do what I want (as far as I know). Unfortunately the default functionality of those two buttons is increasing and decreasing the mouse sensitivity, but that’s a lot less useful to me.

Anyway, apologies for the derail.

If anyone needs hardware, Newegg has a 24 hour sale.

Elder Scrolls (3 and oblivion) just went up on steam, along with call of cthulhu at a discounted price.

Woo… I’ll buy the Cthulhu game.

I wonder if they run under Vista.

I just noticed that Red Faction has been marked down to $39 on Amazon, that may be what pushes me over the edge. Well, that and the raves it’s been getting around here.

I guess it’s probably time I added Oblivion to my backlog.

Xbox 360 Red Faction for 40 at Amazon

One thing you might need to watch out for with Oblivion is that OBSE (used by some mods) might not work if the executable has been Steam-ified. Or it might, if it hasn’t. If that’s a concern, you might want to hold off until more reports come in and/or support is added to OBSE.

Kinda mad that the price is dropping 2 weeks after release. Was this their plan? Get the early adopters out of the way and then drop the price for a second go around?

I don’t think it was anyone’s plan. This might imply poor sales, I hope not.

This is just one sale by one retailer. I haven’t heard of any other stores dropping the price this much.

Having said that, NewEgg (and other retailers like GoGamer) has been heavily discounting recent releases for the past few months. It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that follows these sorts of threads.

I’m not too worried, since it was only about a $10 price drop anyway. Amazon sold it at $53 at launch, and that was before my ECA discount, after which I got it for around $49 or so. So I guess I payed $9 to play it for an extra two weeks. Shrug. That’s pretty reasonable.

Yeah, but you got it on sale to begin with. It is a 20 dollar price drop from the normal B&M price.

But, I am not talking about just this game, this seems to be happening a lot lately.

Snapped a shot of the brand new clearance rack at the recently remodeled Target near me.

See all those Prince of Persia? $14.98. There are at least forty on the rack. Maybe more. I can’t imagine all the other Target stores aren’t like that. They way overbought that game.

Other new 360 red tags…
Riddick $41.98
F.E.A.R. 2 $34.98
Ninja Blade $27.98
Wanted: Weapons of Fate (no sticker)
Left 4 Dead $34.98

Didn’t find the new PC clearance area, but they’ve been really cutting down the PC stock so there might not be anything left.
