I like impulse more than steam by a tiny bit, but Steam is also offering a deal on everything Might & Magic:
Edit:Bah, curse you Mysterio!
Is the consensus that V is good, but IV is better?

Nah. I thought that 3 was the best, then 5, and finally 4.

I still have 3 installed… such a fun game.

I don’t see any reason to buy the V complete pack when you can just download all the stuff that comes with it for free. So just spend the 4.99.

also, i’m not sure if the original content i linked above will work with the steam version. i’d recommend going the impulse route.

Yeah I had already bought it from Impulse before I saw the steam deal. I’m downloading it all now and hopefully I can give it a try before I have to go to work. Either way 5 bucks you can’t go wrong. I do wish Impulse had HoMM 3 and 4 though just so I could have those around for the times I’d like to play them.
IV is the worst in the series.

MotorStorm 2: Pacific Rift for $35 shipped:
Is the linked download for the original stuff actually legal? Didn’t look like an official site that was linked to, just a community site.

Honestly I have no idea. The files have been around since 01/20/2008 so I’d guess if they weren’t UBI would have said something? Who knows though.
PS3 Dual Shock controller for $43 at Amazon.
Are there any decent 3rd-party PS3 controllers? I’ve never been a big fan of the Dual Shocks - they just don’t fit my hands as nice as the 360 gamepad - but the 3rd-party PS1/PS2 pads I tried were all ass.
Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like it’s worth $5 but I should still keep an eye out for 3.

You can also check out Kings Bounty for a HOMM like game that is fun, but a little different.
I’m trying to consolidate as much as possible on Steam and they have a deal that’s better than the all-in-one HOMM5+Dark Messiah pack. Search for the Heroes of Might & Magic V pack, which has the original game plus both expansions for $12.99. Then add Dark Messiah separately for $4.99 and you can get the whole shebang for $17.98.
Logitech’s wireless PS2 controllers were very good, excellent battery life, good construction, etc. The shape is rounder and a little bigger than the DualShocks.
They have a PS3 version, but it doesn’t have any tilt sensors built in, so there’s some things you won’t be able to do with it. I don’t know of a good fully featured 3rd party PS3 controller
Are these games compatible with Vista? It specifies 2000/XP only.
