Yeah, I’ve opted for NewEgg free shipping on my last couple of orders, and it’s taken all of two days.

I read through the thread, but I’m still not quite sure who this deal is for. If you can only use it on your personal system and not for business, then why do you get so many keys/installations? I would like to order it and give a few keys to family and friends, but going by that thread, that would break the terms of service agreement, which makes sense, but I’m also not too sure what I would do with ten keys for Office or Vista.
I might just go with the cheap Amazon upgrade. Although it would be nice to have Office, I don’t see how I couldn’t use it for work.
Not that odd. Most people seem to feel that the PC version of Left 4 Dead is a substantially superior experience (though I’ve never been clear as to why - the 360 version I rented felt about the same as the PC demo), and it’s certainly a lot more mod friendly.
The idea behind those Technet licenses is that you use them while you train yourself on Microsoft products. Especially when trying to figure out Virtual Machines you might need to set up 3-4 operating systems virtually to play around with. Once you done evaluating and you liked the product the intention from MS is that you will introduce it in the company you work for / bug the IT responsible and then buy licenses for those machines at work therefore giving heaps of money to Microsoft.
I’m still on the fence concerning this deal. Privately I would buy a cheap Windows 7 Premium Home but the outlook to have licenses to play around with Office 2010 etc. is a nice one.
I will check what the difference is between the Windows 7 versions and then see how much the Technet thing sets me back apart from the Windows 7 version I deem useful for my private purposes.

I am more then likely going to do the Technet thing. I have 6 computers that should be upgraded to Windows 7 so it would save me a bit of cash.
Also adding those files to HoMM V worked great. It gives you access to all of the campaigns just like it described.
Yes for you it’s a no-brainer for sure! :)

Thanks for the info, intruder. I think the Amazon route is the best way for me to go.
For those waiting on the Sears deals, word over at CAG is that the clearance items will be removed from the system on July 4th. I’m hoping that a few more titles are moved to the bin before then, but it looks like the prices are pretty much set.
For those who have subscribed to TechNet in the past, do they change the price often? It would be a steal for me with the current offer, but I heard they ran a deal a year or two ago where you could subscribe for $99 and am wondering if they typically cut it to that price.
Anybody know the deal with those files? Why isn’t Ubisoft hunting that dude down?
Doesn’t Technet work like MSDN, where the licenses are only valid while you’re subscribed, and if you let your subscription lapse, the licenses expire?

That’s not how MSDN works, your licenses are perpetual and do not expire when your subscription is up. At least with most of them, I think there are some special subscriptions where that isn’t true.
Yes… for MSDN, licenses are perpetual in most cases, there are some exceptions for volume licenses on server OS and database products where you’re not supposed to use them beyond your subscription period, but generally speaking you get to use the desktop OSes and app licenses forever even after your subscription runs out.
Technet is quite different, though. You’re only supposed to use those licenses for evaluation, even during the period of your subscription. You may not be breaking the law outright by using those installs for purposes other than pure evaluation, but you are certainly breaking the EULAs if you do that. Technet is meant for IT groups to be able to test software, it isn’t meant for getting day-to-day usage of the products it covers on the cheap.

Red Faction Guerrilla for 360 is $40 on Newegg again.
Uggggggggh. Demo was fun. Reviews say full game is fun. But I’ve already got so many games to play sitting around, and if I wait it will only get cheaper. Always hate moments like this.
Sounds like a pretty easy call to me.
Amazon DotD: Wanted - PC for $17, console for $25.
I ordered it. It’s been getting almost uniformly positive reviews AND word of mouth so I couldn’t pass up that price. I just gotta finish up Prototype first.
I paid full price for RFG because I missed one of these deals and I don’t regret it at all–I don’t know what it is but this game really scratches that open-world game itch for me, more so than GTA IV. On the strength of RFG I know for sure that I’m going to be getting Saint’s Row 2 at some point, since it was developed by the same people (I could kick myself for missing the 20 dollar price at Fred Meyer, a local chain).
I really hope and pray that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption isn’t a disappointment–they’re making it sound a lot like a better version of GUN, which I really liked, but which was limited.

Seriously, pull the trigger already on RFG. I paid pretty much full price and it’s been a blast on solo and multiplayer (please note: there is no co-op mode). I would love to be able to pull a bunch of qt3 folks on xbox live together regularly to play this.
