Steam selling Meridian4 games for 50% off currently. The most notable games on there being the Shadowgrounds games. For $10 you can have both the old and new one, a little more than half off the package price since it was already discounted.

I played the original Shadowgrounds and loved the first few levels but got sick of it eventually. Someone pooh-poohed the sequel but I can’t remember why. The graphics were a lot nicer.

i like the sequel more. it reminded me of an shooterpg. it was short and fun and i think worth the $5 i spent for it during some previous sale

Cool, guess I will check it out for myself then.

Here’s one for all you Twitter Shitters! If you missed Larva Mortus in the Game Giveaway of the Day back in March, Rake in Grass is offering a free code if you sign up to watch their Twitter account. It was originally limited to 50 people but due to popularity they seem to be expanding it. Worth a try, the game is a decent little questy arena shooter; the graphics are a bit wonky but it’s great fun.

Hot damn. Been kicking myself over missing the Shadowgrounds Survivor $5 deal ages ago, $10 for both is good enough for me to finally jump on 'em. Thanks!

Edit: Huh, “RIP Trilogy” looks decent for $2.50 as well. Think I’ll pick that up too. DAMN YOU STEAM.

Looks like the Xbox Live deal of the week is Knothole Island for Fable II for 560 points (30% off, usually 800). Not exactly great, but thought I’d mention it.

Somebody please sepeak up if they see another Xbox Live deal for Fallout 3 DLC. I’m thinking I’m about ready to go back and dive in to those.

Wow, also picked up Gumboy Crazy Adventures from that sale and have to recommend it. Pretty damn cool for $2.50. Hadn’t even heard of it until I noticed it was $2.50 as well and took a peek at it.

Currently Impulse is offering a deal where if you buy Red Faction: Guerrilla for $40, you get the previous two red faction games for free. Considering the price, doesn’t sound all that bad. Technically that would mean you are getting the new game for a little over $13.

Taken from the Impulse site:

THQ has teamed up with Impulse to offer a special pre-order offer for the upcoming PC version of the hit game, Red Faction Guerrilla. Those who pre-order the game will get Red Faction and Red Faction 2 for free (once the pre-order for Red Faction Guerrilla has been charged).

In this third installment of the series, Alec Mason arrives on Mars hungry for a new life, but tragedy strikes quickly to snuff out his dreams. Having lost everything, the player will lead the revolution against the oppressive Earth Defense Force using guerrilla tactics and strategic destruction!

This special Red Faction Guerrilla Pre-Order bundle is available for 39.99 USD | 49.99 EUR | 34.99 GBP | 99.95 AUD. For more information visit http://www.impulsedriven.com/rfguerilla

I was wondering if that game would come out for PC. Now I have to go find out if it’s a nice hardcore shooter I’d be interested in or some ahem… well, you know.

It’s OK, you can say “console port,” Tim.

I had no idea that Red Faction 2 even came out for the PC. Seriously. I thought it was a PS2-only release, and that’s the console I rented it for. I enjoyed it and played it all the way through, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Red Faction 1 and Red Faction Guerrilla. There was hardly any use of geomod in RF2 either. Some, but it all felt canned in a linear-FPS-kind of way.

Edit: Checking Amazon, it turns out that there was not only a PC version, but also an Xbox version of RF2. Huh. I had no clue. If I’d known, there was no way in hell I’d played that game with the dualshock controller.

A couple deals over at D2D:

Call of Duty: World at War for $34.95

and

Company of Heroes Complete Bundle for $33.95

If you’re an ECA member, there’s currently a 15% off coupon you can apply to CoD:WaW which should bring it down to $30. [It also applies to CoH:ToV but not the complete bundle, unfortunately.]

ah, good find unbongwah! the recent Call of Duty games certainly don’t go on sale very often.

Is ToV down to under 20 bucks anywhere yet? Would like to grab it to give me an excuse to reinstall CoH but not enough to pay 30 for it when I’m busy with other stuff.

Ugh, god damn it. Already spent $15 on the Meridian4 Steam sale, and now I’m eyeballing the rest of their games and am interested in most of them. Should have just bought the complete pack instead of being an idiot and buying them individually. Oh well. Just wish Steam gave you gift codes for games you already own if you buy a pack, then I could at least gift some friends with extras if I break down and buy the complete set.

Gabe Newell laughs at your pleas from his floating golden throne.

I’ll have stern words with him after I make a staircase of money and can climb up to him.

Mostly just disappointed with myself though. Normally I check deals out thoroughly before buying anything, but unfortunately I didn’t this time. Then I checked the rest of the games out after buying a few, and realized that most of them sound worth a shot. Suppose there are worse things to waste extra money on.
