Should I buy Majesty Gold from Impulse for $5?
Yes.
$5 is like what, a beverage at the cinema?
Oh it’s not the money. It’s the do I want to invest any time into it?
I recall there were “a few” fans of the game on this forum, and the demo seemed okay, but man… more old games.

I’d say yes, but I’m an unreasonably large fan of the game, and have played it usually at least for a week out of every year since it was released. It’s probably like the people who still play Jagged Alliance 2, whereas people who first start playing it now tend to give up. Still, for what it’s worth, I recommend it.
In fact, that’s a bit tempting for myself. Downloadable, CD-less Majesty is sounding pretty good. Not sure if I’ll be able to justify it with the obscene amount of money I’ve spent on 360 games and Steam games in the last few days though.
Whoa hey now, JA2 is still an epic that made my jaw drop when I played it last year for the first time. :)
Kicking myself for never bothering to grab it earlier, even though I always had an eye on it.

I hate to admit I’ve had a difficult time getting into it. Never picked it up when it was new, and only started playing it from a Steam sale a while back. Not really sure what’s holding me back, since I can handle clunky interfaces (I play Dwarf Fortress), enjoy that style of game (Have fun with X-Com), and don’t really mind the graphics. One of these days I’ll have to set aside a weekend and try giving the game a fair shake.
I don’t remember what was in the Majesty demo though, but if you liked the basic gameplay of it, the gold pack should do you well. The campaign levels are more puzzle-like since they tend to have varied goals and restrictions, but one of the biggest joys of the game to me is the random map editor. After the Northern Expansion, uh, expansion, was released, they expanded (There’s that word again) the random map generator quite a bit. You can select your own restrictions on buildings and heroes, starting money, map type, type of monsters, random events, wandering monsters, a wide variety of things.
So even though I’ve gone through the campaign levels a few times now, I always get a kick out of setting up new levels with the generator.
Oh, just looked up the demo. It’s apparently a unique level not included with the game. Well… Uh… Still don’t really know if it gives you a decent example of the game or not.

Newegg has the PS3 for $360, with the coupon code EMCLVLN52, and free shipping.
It’s so frustrating living in Canada and looking at Amazon.com deals and then looking at Amazon.ca and realizing that everything is double the price. I’d like some Sennheiser HD 555 headphones but on Amazon.com they’re $80 and on .ca they’re $160!
Not cool Amazon… Not cool

If you don’t have a Half Price Books handy where you could get a retail copy for the same $5.
Newegg has some PC games for $10: Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet Colonies Edition, Tomb Raider Anniversary. Not sure if those are price drops or sale prices.
Amazon’s DotD is Fire Emblem (DS) for $15.
GamersGate is doing Daily Deals for the entire month of July. Today’s deal: the Complete X-Com for $7.50. Tomorrow is Atlantis Collection, Saturday is Men of War, Sunday is Arena Wars Reloaded.
EDIT: Impulse has the original Titan Quest for $4.

Steam has fallout 3 as deal of the weekend. 50% off!
Nice! I assume the Steam version also has GFW Live integration right? Just like the retail version? Where you earn achievements, just like the Xbox version? Plus you get better graphics, and access to mods?
Do achievements still work if you apply mods to the game? Does anyone know for sure?

Yes, Yes,Yes, Yes and Yes
Yet another download site that won’t give up the Gold edition for a rock bottom price. Still waiting on that one.
GamersGate Deals of the Day sounds like a fantastic idea. Amazon’s are always so useless to me since I don’t play console games.
IIRC, Steam had TQ Gold for half price during one of their big holiday sales. Obviously, though, that was ages ago and I haven’t seen a great deal since.
BTW, for my fellow ECA members: there is an issue with Amazon discount codes not working at the moment. The ECA’s apparently working to resolve it, but no word I’ve seen on when it will be fixed.
Yeah on TQ Gold that was during the time when I had written it off but now I’ve changed my tune and would like to acquire it for the backlog.

Some mods require the Fallout Script Extender mod and if you use that it will disable GFWL.
That’s what you get for not snapping up a deal on the off-chance you someday decide you actually want it! HA HA!
. . .holy crap I have too many unplayed games.
Fallout 3 for half the price?
Damn, even with three times cursed regional pricing 22€ is a pretty good offer.
Really tempts me to end my “no Steam buys” stance. Stupid 1:1 Dollar Euro conversion…
