God damn it. My copy is being delivered today, I ordered it at the same time as Madwhatever it’s called was $20 a couple of days ago. Oh well, it’s only like $8 or $9 dollars.

Since it’s only one day, you might want to contact Amazon customer support and politely ask them if it’s possible to get the discount even though you’re a day late. I bet they’ll do it.

Worth a try, sent them an email. Really loved it when they gave 30 day price protection but that ended awhile ago so I am not optimistic.

I bet they won’t. Tried almost the exact same thing a few months ago - no dice. Best I could’ve done is re-order the game at the lower price and return the one I had bought - EDIT which IIRC hadn’t even shipped yet - but the cost of shipping it back would’ve negated any savings.

Kinda lazy considering that LucasArts wrapped their games up in swanky Vista executables, although I suppose it’s possible that the source code simply doesn’t exist anymore, given Sierra’s turbulent history and the age of some of these games.

The King’s Quest collection isn’t officially supported under Vista or 64-bit operating systems (the Space Quest collection doesn’t have this warning but I suspect it’s the same there).

I call bargainware the questionable carousel, kisk or display full of cardboard-container ‘spyware-removal’ discs and old adventure games. a lot of stuff like broken sword, runaway etc along with other third-fourth rate publisher stuff.

How well does King’s Bounty run on a 64-bit system running Vista or Windows 7? Doesn’t seem like it’s supported.

Perfectly.

x64 vista here.

Activision put no effort into these it seems.

“Some games in this collection may run under Windows XP 64 and Vista 32/64, but are not officially supported.”

Pass.

I haven’t had any problems running the game on 64-bit Vista.

For those of you who missed it last week, Mirror’s Edge (PC version) is back in stock at GoGamer, for $5.90, along with some other 48 Hour Madness deals.

Which inexplicably run out in 89 hours.

Doesn’t the Kings Quest / Space Quest compilations run on DosBox anyways? If DosBox runs on Vista then so should KQ/SQ.

The one exception is KQ7, which apparently uses a native 16-bit Windows executable, so it won’t work under either DOSBox or 64-bit Windows. There was a DOS version of it, but they didn’t use it in the package, which is one of the reasons they’re being accused of sloppiness in putting it all together.

Thank you very much! I missed it last time, but I got it this time :)

Steams weekend deal is Velvet Assassin for $24.99. 50% off.

Linky

That makes me almost want to try the game for its unique setting and stealth. Almost.

Little King’s Story for $39.99 at Fry’s Electronics.

Also on sale on Steam: Men of War for $7.50, down from $29.99.

Edit: incidentally, according to the Steam page “This product does not support Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT or XP x64/Vista x64!” I was thinking of getting it, but will have to pass if that’s the case. In the Steam forums it seems like some users are able to run it fine in Vista 64, but it’s not universal.

i’ll totally buy it for that amount

that’s crazy pricing

Nice deal on MOW, cheaper than the $12 I paid recently.

The game is maddening but it moves along solidly and there are many glimpses of brilliance.
