The Game du Jour discount for the next couple hours is The Shivah for $2. It’s a solid little indie adventure, if very short. If past trends are an indicator, though, the real news here is that Wadjet Eye’s other games including the Blackwell series and Emerald City Confidential may well be showing up over the next few days.

D2D is getting more and more attractive to Steam these days. Steam is giving out lousy sales. What happened to them?
It’s the market leader now so natually they start trying to screw customers. D2D has to fight to keep up with Steam so they have to be attractive (mostly done through pricing).
Captialism 1.0 :p
OK, I got my $10 out of Conan on the 360 but it’s now on the shelf.

The dragon boss fight broke me. Fuck it. I don’t have time to deal with your “take too long” pain animations and broken timing issues when avoiding the dragon head. Or the fire attack which I’m obligated the take damage from. Or the split second QTE event when I’m supposed to grab the tongue.
Fuck you, Conan. This is why you’re selling for $10 - you’re an asshole.

Except that Impulse only sells it to North America.
Impulse used to be so great… Same pricing and availability everywhere, but then publishers (I presume) just had to shit all over it. Lots of North America exclusives and lots of games that have different (i.e. lot higher) price point for Europe.
I’ve personally moved back from digital sales to mostly ordering physical copies, because the deals are just so much better. Steam is basically worthless except for a few -50% or -75% deals.
Same here + with Steam DRM I consider those purchases “renting for a unspecified amount of time” regardless of what Valve promises in case their servers go down one day.
Enough bitching about Steam etc. now let’s keep this thread clear for bargains! :)
Try looking for it under the name Anno 1404. There are references to it under that name on the forums, so it should be available elsewhere.
Bummer. Just got my copy yesterday and haven’t started it yet. I’ve been playing Viking over the weekend and I must say, if you find a cheap copy I very much recommend it. I’ve heard it has similar final boss problems but I haven’t reached that point yet but so far, so fun.
I played on Normal which is probably my mistake. Once my rage subsides, I’ll likely try again on Easy because it does have cool moments…
sigh, you are right.
I was waiting on reading Troy’s review of the game before buying and didn’t check that.
I have never moved to digital sales because of the prices but i was willing to support Stardock’s platform if it meant less retarded prices. However, this also seems to be a Ubisoft thing and not much Stardock’s fault.
Time to order it from the UK!

Yep, fun game right up until the final boss fight, which was a complete frustrating time-waster as I slowly learned the EXACT way the game wanted me to beat it.
My advice: use the over-powered shield push move to knock enemies into the fiery walls to preserve your health.
Street Fighter IV for $20 new from EBX / Gamestop: X360, PS3. Lots of other games are under $20.
Wow, that’s pretty cheap for a fairly new game. Would you recommend that to someone who hated the previous Street Fighter games and DoA games, but loves Mortal Kombat 1 and 3, and Soul Calibur? I guess I’m only into fighting games for the visceral thrills, and I think Soul Calibur XBLA and Soul Calibur 4 are the only fighting games I’ll ever need. But am I missing out by never even trying Street Fighter 4?
Hmm does EBGames.com ship to Canada?
edit: $15 shipping?!?! are you kidding me?

Nice. New: $19.99, Used: $34.99 … decisions, decisions.
They’ve already had a couple of other games in the series recently. I figured it was because the new edition is out now.
That one didn’t strike me as all that bad really. Now the last boss… well, he sucks.

The cheap Mirror’s Edge I got from gogamer just arrived today. It also has a music CD in it, which I am not sure is special or if all of them come with it.
Sweet. That’s a good soundtrack. Especially if they have ‘Still Alive’ on there. Before EA started it’s free music barrage, I couldn’t look at the words “Still Alive” without associating them with Portal, but EA has gotten those words successfully associated with Mirror’s Edge now in my brain. They have free mp3s of the song to download on PSN, which I listen to all the time on my PS3. And they have the music video available for free on XBL, which I watch from time to time, because it’s a great video, and I love listening to the song.
