Thanks I would have missed that.

Also, Amazon has all the full versions of Rock Band 2 for $99.

Nice! So only $90 with the ECA discount. I’d have gone for it if I wasn’t getting Beatles Special Edition next month.

Amazon Lightning Deal: The World Ends with You for $10. Use ECA code for another $2 off, making it $8. Ends 2 PM PST or when they run out.

Really?

Bah! It’s Jab256535459585’s fault! He used lowercase! And he didn’t have a link! How am I supposed to find shit while I’m skimming if there ain’t no link?

Holy crap, $10? Everyone should play this game. Buy it!

Does anyone know of a good site that aggregates pc hardware sales/deals? I’m looking for a new hard drive.

I gave up haunting deal sites and signed up for newegg’s mailing list.

I agree. Newegg is where I get all my hardware now. They always have a sale on something useful.

I use Techbargains; you can shop by category which is nice. Though, yeah, 9 times outta 10 Newegg is gonna be your best bet.

Amazon DotD: The Club - PC for $9.50, X360 for $10, PS3 for $11.

A word of advice for anyone tempted by that: Play the demo first. There’s a demo for all 3 platforms. There’s nothing in the full game that’s not in the demo, as far as basic gameplay is concerned. If you don’t like the demo, don’t fool yourself into thinking you’ll enjoy the full game.

Another word of advice, The Club is one of the ten best games of 2008.

Don’t just believe me…

I have the PS3 version, but I might get the 360 version just to play my favorite multiplayer mode of 2008 with anyone who gets this… Team Siege.

Team Siege: This game mode is inspired by the single player “Siege” game mode. In Team Siege teams are assigned the role of either attack or defense. Defending players have only one life whereas attacking players re-spawn when killed. The game plays out and the attackers must kill all of the defending players as quickly as possible. The teams then swap roles so the attackers become defenders and the defenders attackers. To win this round teams must survive for longer in defense than the attackers did.

Eh, for $10 I can take a chance…

Occasionally the PC version shows up at Big Lots (where Strategy First titles go to die) for $6.00, which isn’t bad when you consider it also includes a code for full month of Xbox Live.

I think The Club was in Half Price Books for about $6 this past weekend.

The Club is a clever combination of shmup, racing game, and shooting gallery: in SP you run laps shooting as many targets as you can as quickly as possible. It falls a little flat for me, but I’m not the sort of gamer who enjoys replaying a game ad infinitum just to try to eke out a slightly higher score. If you are, though, The Club might be right up your alley.

What killed it for me is the “feel” of the aiming. It doesn’t feel like precise aiming. It feels loose and unsatisfying to me. The worst part is that it feels the same way on the PC. I was at least hoping that the PC version would be different and that I could just aim precisely using the mouse, but it still has that loose feeling to it. I think if the shooting mechanics themselves had been more fun, I would have liked the game a lot more, since I’m a huge fan of racing games, and I like the concept of The Club. Just not the execution.

I eventually adjusted to the aiming, which is implemented as such to force the player to use the quick turn button (“Y” on 360) and get its score bonuses. What gets me is the unresponsiveness of the “throw grenade” button. Sometimes you have to jam on it several times to get a grenade out, which really starts to hurt on higher difficulty levels with more enemies around. I think this has something to do with the throwing animation not blending with other animations, but I really don’t know.

Still, $10 is impulse-buy territory. Try to demo, or just go ahead and order. If you don’t like it, you won’t be out much money.
