Is that PS3 sale over already? I went on Dell’s site and the only listing is for the $399 one. I can’t even bring up the slim one.

Amazon has Batman The Complete Animated Series for $77.49. It’s Prime eligible. My understanding is that this is somewhat hard to get at a decent price, so I’m posting it here in The Bargain Thread even though it’s not a game. I’m sure there are some like me that are looking to revisit the series after playing Arkham Asylum.

I wasn’t sure where to ask this, but I think it’s technically a bargain: http://www.theeca.com/membership_benefits

Has anyone that’s done the ECA membership confirmed that you can actually use the 10% on each Amazon video game purchase? If so, it’s definitely worth it for me, since I buy from them pretty much exclusively.

I don’t blame you for not going through the many many pages of this thread in search of this answer. A few of us have joined the ECA and have used many many codes for 10% off Amazon purchases. It has been WELL worth the $15 I spent on it. You can definitely generate a new code for each game you want to purchase. It works on preorders too.

Yes, I can confirm it. Me and others here have been using this membership to get 10% off pretty regularly. The best part is that it works with any other codes/bargains you might have.

Only caveat: Right now, for the past month or so the ECA membership benefits area has had this message under the Amazon codes area:

Members please note: These codes expire on 9/30/09

I’m not exactly sure what that means. Does that means that any codes generated now will expire at that date, after which we’ll have to get new codes from them? (In which case, it’s no big deal, and I don’t know why they would even bother posting a warning). Or does it mean that after September, the 10% discount will stop working?

If it’s the latter, then perhaps I should use the codes now to pre-order games like Brutal Legend and Forza 3? But I usually like to wait until closer to release to see if Amazon has the better deal, or if Toys R Us or Best Buy might have the better deal later on. I’m not sure what the expiration of codes means exactly.

Previously the ECA codes have expired, requiring Amazon to generate a new batch. I think that’s all that warning means this time. Typically there is a few days’ gap in being able to generate codes until Amazon hooks the ECA up with a new set that will cover another three months or whatever.

Amazon has a pre-order price guarantee, so if you pre-order and it’s ever offered on Amazon for a lower price between the time you preordered and the time the game releases, Amazon will give you that price. Amazon makes it extremely easy to cancel an order anytime before it ships, so there’s not reason not to preorder just in case.

I know they were trying to convert from 1-time use generated codes to some sort of per-member multi-use code. That might be what they’re talking about.

While that’s true, there has never been a warning like that in the past, right? So is the warning just a reaction to people’s experience with codes expiring in the past, or is it something new? I hope you’re right though, and this is all just business as usual. I’ve gotten so used to the ECA discounts now, I’m hoping it never goes away.

Now that you say that, I think what happened in the past is that the codes just stopped working and the ECA would post a little notice saying Amazon was working to get more codes. That sounds right, doesn’t it? Perhaps this is just a heads up so that the next code generating down time doesn’t take us by surprise. I will be massively bummed if the 10% discount goes away.

One hassle, though: you can only use one code per order and each code only applies to one game (unless that’s changed recently). This can be a pain if you want to order more than one game which is under $25 and are trying to hit the free-shipping price point.

Oh, and you can use the codes on Gold Box and DotD sales as well. I got The World Ends With You for $8 the last time it was a DotD. Now all I need is a DS to play it on…

It’s actually slightly cheaper at B&N. Thanks for the heads-up, though: this sold out pretty much everywhere before I could snag a copy last year. Looks like it got a reprint or something, because now I can find it everywhere. Too bad it wasn’t available for Deep Discount’s last 20% off sale!

Ah, okay. I just remembered it had been very hard to get for a while and the prices had been jacked up. It must’ve gotten a re-print, as you said. I still jumped on the Amazon deal.

This is absolutely correct.

It has changed. A single code will now discount all games and accessories in your cart. As an added bonus, the discount applies to Amazon’s standard price, not the Gold Box or DotD prices.

Thanks for the post, I’ve been wanting to get that and used it as an excuse to order a few of the Batman comics that I’ve wanted to get too.

Star Wars: TFU for the 360 is 10 bucks at amazon.

Damn, I just came here to post this, but yeah, ordered two copies of Sacred 2 for my friend and I and it applied to both. The deal just got a little bit sweeter!

Wow, yeah, I can’t find it either. That deal went fast.

That’s awesome! Thanks a lot for the responses guys, looks like it’s time to sign up for this.
