Yeah, but will Kael be willing to startup FFH3? FFH2 from what I gather is worth keeping Civ4 installed.

Wadjet Eye Games is having a Labor Day sale. http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/index.html
50% off on all games sold through the store on that site, if you use the coupon code “labor”.

The games in question are: The Blackwell Legacy, Blackwell Unbound, The Blackwell Convergence, The Shivah, and two non-Wadjet Eye adventure games that they happen to sell - Downfall, a horror adventure game, and The Adventures of Fatman.

Emerald City Confidential is not sold through their site, unfortunately.

Soren Johnson no longer works there, so who gives a shit.

If you’re worried about DRM, as far as I can tell the retail dvd package doesn’t have any. No disc in drive required.

This isn’t true, there are no exclusive characters in the PC version.

I was at my local target today in Lancaster, PA and saw the following deals:

Lord of the Rings Online - original + expansion - $9.99
Age of Mythology gold - $9.99
Patapon 2 - 9.99
Deadspace PS3 - 14.99
Riddick PS3 - 19.99
Warhawk PS3 - 14.99

Damn it, we still don’t have a Target here. Well, okay, there’s one just over 20 miles away, in Plattsburgh, but you have to cross the lake to get to it.

Hopefully, they’ll find some room for one by the Whole Foods market (another chain we don’t have yet) that’s currently in the planning stages. There will be 85,000 square feet left over, with 3/4 of the anchors yet to be announced…

That’s okay. You have to be pretty lucky to get the really crazy deals. Usually, sure, most Targets might have something on clearance, but you gotta remember that Target rarely actually drops the base price of a given game, so the clearance typically starts off as a discount on $60. So, maybe you’d get a 4-5 month old unpopular game for $43, with 10-15 copies sitting around. Give it a few weeks, they -might- drop it to $35ish. Half the copies will be gone by then. Maybe more. If they make it past that stage, it’s either crap or you’re lucky. Having them get down to $15 or less on an originally $60 game? Very rare indeed, in my experience.

Best Buy. PS3 games buy one get one 50% off:

Yeah, I’ve been to enough to know how it works. Bought a cheap film/slide scanner (that sucks) for $40.00 from them, and the next day it was down to $20.00. So I did a return/rebuy.

Yeah, I wish they would get rid of that stupid Wal-Mart and put in a Target. The ferry just isn’t that amusing if you are actually trying to get somewhere.

Hmmm. That actually makes a lot of sense. I remember when all the Circuit City branches around here were closing last year. As soon as they had put everything around 30% of base price, most of the good games were sold. Which made no sense to me because that base price was ridiculous for most of those games. And 30% didn’t even put it at the price I’d get at Amazon for those games. So when the sales got bigger and bigger closer to the closing date of Circuit City, it didn’t matter because none of the quality games were left.

I guess the big difference in this Kansas City area is that there’s a lot of gamers here who are willing to buy stuff when it goes on “Clearance” when it’s barely even a good deal yet. That’s why I never see deals as good as Dave Long does at his Target. Because apparently Dave Long doesn’t live in an area where gamers go to Target.

Either that or he’s stashing them in places no gamer would ever look (like, uh, the lingerie department), and then retrieving them after the requisite time has passed.

Yeah, that’s the part I really hate about Target clearance (and eBay) - people who don’t know what constitutes a good deal buying everything for (usually far) more than I’d pay.

Just bought all the Blackwell Games + Shivah + Downfall for $32 US incl. VAT.
Thanks for the heads up. :)

I had the opportunity to visit two different Targets this weekend outside the two I usually go to and both had similar clearance deals to the one closest to me. They also had the stuff in somewhat similar places in the store to what I’m used to at the ones near me.

Those of you having trouble finding the deals might just need to look a little harder. Either that or get some informed customers that wait for the prices to drop. To be honest, I think the gamers around my area are very savvy, having worked in game retail here some years ago and finding many of the customers to be pretty knowledgeable. I think it’s more likely that you have a lot of less-informed folks that pick these games up at the first sign of price drop, thus limiting your selection.

People around here know how to wait for real deals. :)

These Sega games are 50% off at Gamersgate this week:

…there was a PC port of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg???

My experience has been that Target stores in high-income suburbs will not have as good a selection as stores in lower-income neighborhoods. Unsurprisingly, the full-price merchandise doesn’t leap off the shelves as fast.

Whats even stranger is how huge the mod community is for the game.
