Kong? For 4? Hell, I’d buy it.

It’s shit that StarFoce is involved, but hey, it was a great game otherwise.

Amazon’s Deal of the Day (8/12/08) is Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for PS3 for $25.99. The only caveat is, it’s not set to ship for 2 to 5 weeks, so if you’re in a rush, pass on this one.

Saw Galactic Civilizations II Gold for $12 at Circuit City today! I hope someone picks it up.

I fear, however, that my local Circuit City is clearing out far too many of their non-jewel case games, and it may be the end of the section…

I visited my local Target to cash in on the discounted Microsoft points deal and they also had Bully Scholarship Edition for the 360 on clearance for $14.98. I’m having a lot more fun with this than I did GTAIV.

Oh, I better swing by target today.

If you’re like me and you’re running about 10 months behind, Amazon is offering CoD4: GotY Edition for $39.99: http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Modern-Warfare-Xbox-360/dp/B0016B28Y8/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1218635357&sr=8-2

Speaking of Circuit City, they have a number of PC games on sale: standouts include Civ 4:BtS and C&C 3: Kane’s Wrath for $15; Civ 4 and The Club for $20; and Assassin’s Creed for $25. They’ve also got HG:L for $15, if anybody wants to loot that corpse.

Still waiting for the latest Age of Empires to drop … It seems to be stubbornly hanging at thirty. I got Company of Heroes for less!

EBGames.com’s deal of the day is free overnight shipping on Mercenaries 2. Enter the coupon code “MERC2” to take advantage of it.

I wish they’d have thsoe deals closer to release. I’d likely bite if it was a few days away. It’s FOREVER away though, so forget it.

I feel much more likely to get it in-store first, anyhow.

Though I guess you could always get it shipped, then if it doesn’t get to you by the day, you pick up a store copy and return the unopened shipped copy when it arrives …

Is that addiction-level behavior? Or just being practical?

Do you need that first Civ4 expansion to play Beyond the Sword? I have been waiting for a “platinum” pack to come out and go down in price, but it still seems like it’s almost 60 bucks to get the complete set.

Oh, and this might be a good time to ask about shipping times. I am in Florida and release date usually means the day it ships from the factory, unless it’s a huge console game like Halo 3. Most of the time I don’t care about day-1 releases, but I will probably have to get Clear Sky through Steam even though I prefer boxed copies.

I’ve taken advantage of a TON of these overnight shipping offers from EBGames.com. The game always arrives at my house on the same day it arrives in stores. So Madden was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday because stores got it yesterday. You never have to wait an additional day.

zen, yeah, you can definitely do that. Because I don’t get home until after 5:00 p.m. everyday, the games I get with free overnight shipping are always there waiting for me. It’s certainly possible that if you have no day time commitments, you could pick up a game from a local store before it would arrive from FedEx or UPS.

Moore, I don’t quite get what the deal being far in advance of release has to do with taking advantage of it. They don’t charge your card until it ships. Even if you hear the game sucks after preordering, you can cancel it very easily right on the website, so there’s no risk at all.

Well, Mercenaries 2 is currently tagged for the 31st, which is a Sunday …

Interesting. I don’t think it’ll actually come out on Sunday as it’s not a Nintendo game, but stranger things have happened. I think the 31st is simply a placeholder date, but I really have no idea.

I thought it was odd myself, but that’s according to the official site …

The official release date of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is August 31st as shown at the end of the trailer on our home page!

Plus, Monday is a holiday, so I’d favored the idea.

Obviously I’m a complete moron and admit it to all on QT3 who had not yet realized it. I still expect EB to get the game to me on Sunday, but I suppose we shall see. If it seems like they won’t, then I’ll cancel the preorder and pick it up in-store in-stead.

Ha. Doesn’t make you a moron - it’s pretty unusual.

In this case, I don’t believe UPS delivers on Sundays, and they likely wouldn’t deliver on a holiday, so people would be pretty screwed if they didn’t get it by Saturday night (which I believe sometimes happens with the release-day deliveries).

So I guess the compulsive next-day/in-store switcheroo seems a bit more justified.

Indeed zen. I appreciate you pointing all that out. Being weirdly compulsive about having games on day one (so I can promptly add them to the pile that I will inevitably ignore) this definitely makes a difference to me.
