Has anyone successfully achieved mic conversations? The options page indicates my mic is working, but my teammate can never hear me.

It hasn’t worked for me for a couple of patches now. Prior to that it was okay though. If you’re playing with someone you know you can just use Skype while Blizzard gets in-game voice fixed.

When does your ladder change? I’ve been stuck at #1 on my copper ladder for a couple of days now. If I click “ladders” I see I’m on bronze as well, but that doesn’t show on my main screen. Confused…

They don’t say in the ladder FAQ but if you keep winning games you should move up in the near future. I just moved from Silver to Gold the other day. It gave me something like 160 rested points with the move as well which was nice.

I think a lot of my problem with this game right now is the system put me in the silver league, when I won 3 of my 5 training matches by my opponent timing out. The other two I got beat handily.

So I lose and I lose games, but I am still in silver league.

I mananged to get in every single league with various friends(for 2v2) and I find myself watching every replay- watching for enemy APMs, and seeing what number I really need to sit at.

At the moment: I am at around 58 in game(I think it comes out to like 100 in real time). and most of my losses are to people around 80, with smatterings of people at 40. Eerily: I have never lost to anyone under 40, even in 2v1s, so that appears to be some sort of lower barrier for APM skillz.

EDIT: oh im Thorn.Falconeye if you want a game- I do 90% 2v2s. and could always use a buddy.

Hooray! Just broke the top 10 in the Silver League, and got my 25 protoss wins achievement at the same time. It’s going to be a shame if/when they reset all the achievements when the real game comes out. It’d be a nice surprise if they didn’t.

Well there are a grand total of 5 achievements at the moment, and they’re all pretty easy to get. I hope they let us keep the one called ‘I love the BETA’ at least ;)

They should fully reset rankings, however.

Nnooooooo, the beta is ending on May 31. There will be a second phase a few weeks before the retail launch. I guess I’ll actually get to play some of the single player games I’ve bought now.

Yeah, I’d be tempted to play nothing but SC2 this summer, and I’ve got such a backlog of SP games. Also, this will give me a chance to catch up on my Day9!

Then I played a 2v2 and I had a good initial push with my ally, but our force got wiped. I was set to charge again almost immediately but my opponent wasn’t, and we died.

I watched the replay and I saw my ally was sitting on 2000 minerals and 1500 gas, and was just building photon cannons. So he made 8 zealots for the initial push then just cranked out photon cannons. I understood the loss, and became a stronger player.

Turtling is simply not a viable strategy in Starcraft 2. The macro game is simply too important and static defense isn’t even all that useful outside of the mid game or to protect against some harassment. You have to expand and gain more resources.

I am not sure how it works either. The most frustrating thing is that not an “even” match is against a gold player. I’ve been in #1 in my bronze division for probably a couple weeks now with over 100 points between me and #2.

I think the problem they have is not the promotion system but the demotion system. There are people in gold and silver who really shouldn’t be there. I feel bad for them. Those 5 placement games are a good idea but if you get stuck in a league you don’t belong in, that can be pretty rough.

Though I tell ya, working at a game company and admitting you’re “only” in bronze kind of sucks, especially when you’re slightly favored to win against the highest rated silver players (silver not so embarassing).
