Ah yes my bad, for some reason I always think that Bronze and Copper are the same thing. Wonder if that’s why Blizz changed that.
I guess I don’t feel as bad now.
Still, I love the game but I wonder how many times I can take beatings like this and keep my interest. I don’t feel like I’m improving despite all the replays and things I watch. I’m just not fast enough with the mouse. I’m an old ass man.

I’m no pro or anything but try to get in the mindset of being taught things. Add on little things like “I always scout my base for cheese with my 10th worker” that just become part of your game.
Then don’t care about win/loss so much just ask yourself did I do the two things I set myself (say scouting own base and constantly making workers) and have that determine who won. You’d be surprised how many games you will start to win by just ensuring some mechanical stuff.
Yeah, I got beat in a PvP custom because I didn’t see my friend’s Warp Prism at the corner of my base. Since then, I’ve never forgotten to put spotter Pylons around the edges. As long as you learn from it, losing to cheese isn’t such a bad thing.
I made a pylon + cannon pusher rage quit the other day in a 2v2. I used 3 probes to attack his probe and killed it before the pylon finished. Then left a probe on the pylon with a zealot near the top of ramp to catch any new probes he sent, of which there were 6. While still maintaining a good build even with the delay caused by 3 less probes early on, and having a competent random teammate.

Yes, that’s the best way. I’m afraid to play MP because I’m both old and female, but I think I could at least feel better about it if I just tried to do a couple of things properly.

That’s no way to think! Hence forth you will be Lorini-Sen and fear no one!
If you are interested myself or I’m sure some other qt3ers can play some casual 1v1 and 2v2 with you.
Though I have no idea how to add friends currently without their email address
I’m Nishoba if you can figure out how to add me, also I play on US in case you happen to be one of the cheese eating EUers (I kid I kid…)
Also don’t worry about crazy APM or anything that stuff separates players at the high end of play - work on methodically doing a few things right (Economy!)
So I just got back in to the beta, and I’m confused… I played 2 placement matches, they were both against REALLY bad players. But my placement matches counter isn’t going down. Did I accidentally go into the noob league they asked me about at the beginning? If so, how do I get out of it?
I thought the noob league had different maps. I played on Steppes of War and Scrap Station…
EDIT: OK, I was a dummy and entered the novice league I guess, cuz after 5 matches against total noobs, I started my placement matches. Wow, I was an inadvertent griefer. :(
This makes me sad, apparently if you get Random 2v2 10 wins you lose credit for the 5 wins for the Beta Crusher achievement. I already made a post in a similar thread on the battle.net forums. Hopefully they fix a minor thing like that for launch. On a side note I managed to actually transition leagues, I went from Silver to Gold, going 2v2 solo as random.
Hmm I think there is something buggy with b.net right now. I’ve played a bunch of games after being placed in a league, and none are registering.
Region-locked MP is a sad sad choice, IMO, it limits the creation of events and championships/tournaments too much.
From part 2:
“I like how The Little One has added on ghosts in his competition.” Is this an adorable new (to me) turn of phrase for the shoutcasters?
[EDIT] Okay it sounds like “in this competition,” which makes slightly more sense but still a cute phrase.
BTW, I can’t remember if I asked, but did they code anything up to automatically synchronize audio shoutcasts with raw replay files, so people can listen to the commentary and look around within the game by themselves rather than just watching videos (or manual sync)? That would be a dream.
Are you playing in the practice league?
No LAN - As discussed before, it is a countermeasure to Battle.net emulation, which is rampart in tier2 regions. And for the record, people ARE working on the emulation of Bnet 2.0. Although the progress has been very slow compares to War3’s which came out before the beta ended.
Region lock - It will make a lot more sense when you realize the model that will be used in tier2 regions. (hint: subscription)
Singleplayer - Pretty sure it will be cracked on day zero.
He probably means
" I like how The Little One has added ghosts onto his army’s composition."
Probably will never happen as it creates interest conflicts with organizations that broadcast the games.
I finally qualified for the Platinum league. Note to self: Next time, lose those placement matches. :)
Nope, this is after I placed into the platinum league. I echo Brad’s sentiment… should have thrown those placement matches!
Of course, it seems that every game that doesn’t register is a game I win, and every game that does is one that I lose.

Looking forward to seeing you there! Don’t worry, if I can hang on with my 50 APM and non-existant micro while trying out a totally new race, I’m sure you’ll do fine.
Sure, still sucks for legitimate purchasers that enjoy going to LAN parties. I suppose as long as the LAN is connected to the internet it shouldn’t be a big deal.

I think the subscription model has been discussed in this very thread but I fail to understand how different payment models restrict two legitimate users from being able to play one another? This is a choice Blizzard has made, likely to satisfy contracts with companies who will be managing the game in those regions.
Singleplayer - Pretty sure it will be cracked on day zero.
Probably, Blizzard hasn’t had the most secure single player in the past, though their games are best experienced online anyway.
He probably means
" I like how The Little One has added ghosts onto his army’s composition."
Isn’t that what he said? I watched that a couple of days ago and didn’t notice anything strange.

Not much gained either. The person doing the cast can easily tell the player when to start/stop the replay and occasionally state the game time to keep sync.
For those of you better terran players out there: what’s a good ratio of infantry to medivacs for MMM? I seem to be getting about 1 medivac for every 4-5 marines/marauders, and I’d say about half the time my ball still succumbs to the enemy in a straight up fight (e.g. nothing that hard counters it like walking into sieged tanks) . Do I need a higher medivac ratio or is my ball just not big enough?
