Sausage being made.

That is funny.

Heh, indeed. If that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes. As I’ve said previously, it’s pretty slimy but it’s the kind of slime that lubricates the gears of government, so… if that’s what it took to get COVID relief to people or for voting protections (via filibuster reform) or something, it’s a tradeoff I’m more than OK with.

At least she seems to be not unqualified.

Yep, she’s qualified for the gig. But also yep, probably some back-scratching. Which is how shit gets done in DC.

Find something that Sinema wants, next. After Kemp signed that voting bill in Georgia, they’ve gotta do something.

The GA bill, from what I’ve read, is horrific. I don’t think anyone (on this forum, I mean) has any misconceptions of what the GOP today represents. They’re not even bothering with the fig leaves anymore. They are not a party interested in democratic norms or winning elections through reaching out to a broader swath of Americans. They are a white nationalist party that is only interested in maintaining power. The GA bill makes that starkly clear.

I don’t know if the country at large realizes that we’re in a fight for the Republic. The beltway press sure as fuck doesn’t seem to get it, that piss poor press conference yesterday made that clear. I dunno, I’m relieved Trump is gone but I worry a lot of people’s guards are down and if the GOP sweep into power in 2022 and 2024 I don’t know how we get things back on the rails in a peaceful/democratic manner.

I don’t care what it takes to get federal voting rights protections back in place, but it needs to get done.

I’m firmly of a mind with John Malkovic in Rounders when it comes to Sinema and Manchin right now. Pay the Senator their money. Literally don’t give a fuck. If they overreach, primary them next time or something. But we are at the crossroads right the fuck now.

If from what I’ve seen in NC transfers to GA, folks in Georgia will understand. The problem is a lot of folks on the wrong side will also understand. Expect a generation of tight, vicious elections.

and I’m with Adam, give Sinema what she wants.

Damn… Those are some seriously hot numbers.

Sure does give the White House a whole lot of political capital to press recalcitrant senators within the party (and even a bit outside it) on things like filibuster reform and the infrastructure plan.

Hmm, I voted for him… I bet I can parlay some of that heat into a raise at work. Or maybe I’ll take a lover.

But what is his golf score?

Max Fischer, the middle years.

This Biden guy, he might just have a chance.

If a senile old man can do that, imagine what we could do with Ted Cruz!

Cruz 2024!

It’s a start.

Ironically, there’s going to be huge pushback from rich liberals on the coast.

NIMBYism is truly the bane of our existence.

Can we put a few just offshore of Mar-a-Lago?
