Sounds exactly like the playbook the GOP used during the Obama years. Hopefully Biden remembers that and is able to apply enough pressure to manchin and sinema to get them on board the cloture reform train.

The general media narrative, at least, is that this isn’t going to happen. The thing is, enacting voting protections and securing democracy need to be Biden’s number 1 priority, for the simple reason that nothing else he does will matter if he can’t save the republic. His entire legacy will be “last legitimately elected president of the United States” without fairly drastic action, and I’d really like to see some clear indications that he understands that.
