What kind of pizzas do these people order? Just curious.

Papa John’s The worst pizza in the world.
Theme songs being extremely strong predictors of electoral victory, good point.

Ugh. That’s our “pizza day” pizza at work. I live in the boondocks.
As Michael O’Donoghue once told Charles Rocket in the SNL writer’s room: “The angel of funny passed over your house.”
From a place called We The Pizza.
Apparently one pizza is buffalo chicken, causing much twitter debate.
I don’t see how that is an improvement at all.

Pay no attention to the “gang of 10” nonsense. Even if they could somehow hammer out a bill that looked good to Democrats (and they won’t), no other Republicans are going to vote for it. This is very much an informal group with no actual power to whip votes.
HEY NOW THAT’S A LOCAL . . . nah, it is. Even among chain takeout, it’s sugary crap.
Louisvillians new it was shit long before the rest of the country learned.
Even Papa John knows it, back in the 90s caddying at Valhalla, he was heard to admit, “It’s just a Domino’s with more sauce.”
Brutal, and totally earned.
I wonder what the turnout is going to be compared to 2017. Right now it appears to be slightly lower.

I will go on the record and say that as bad as papa John’s is, it is definitely not the worst pizza in the world.
A ton of pizza in Massachusetts is much worse. I don’t really know why, or what the origin is, but a bunch of pizza in Massachusetts has a weird, greasy crust that is almost fried? So when it’s hot it’s… Okay? Not great, but edible. But then when it gets child, the crust hardens into a rock and it’s entirely inedible due to the grease.
Massachusetts is the only place I’ve encountered such pizza, but it was common when I lived there during college, and it is bad and it should feel bad.
Well of course not. For one thing, there’s a whole spectrum of things that are knock-offs of Papa Johns.
It is, by about 100,000 votes.
But…
2017 featured a very competitive (and fairly nasty, and well-publicized) primary at the top of the ticket between Northam and Tom Perriello. And it was the first major statewide thing since Trump took office.
This primary was a bit of a snooze, top-to-bottom, and Virginia Democrats knew that from the outset. Turnout given all those conditions was probably better today than could have been expected.
As a final coda on Virginia 2021 primaries…it’s actually two guys who seemed really interesting and politicians to watch had their careers come screeching to a halt tonight. Or at least confirmed by voters tonight. I already mentioned Justin Fairfax.
The other is Lee J. Carter. He seemed like a guy to watch back in 2017 when he came out of nowhere as an former US marine to win the 50th state legislative district delegate seat. Which is the area in the far west DC exurbs of Manassas. I mean, the dude ran as an out-and-out socialist. And won.
And then the wheels came off. I just don’t think he’s temperamentally suited for a career in politics. Endless fights with the state Democratic party (which, honestly, you sort of expected) but also with members of the DSA in his own district who helped get him elected. And those fights were particularly rancorous.
For whatever reason, he decided to try running for the gubernatorial nomination. And finished last. He also concurrently ran to hold his old state legislative seat. And apparently he lost that as well tonight.
