Looks like a witch hunt!

It is perhaps the worst thing to happen to a human since Eve ate the apple.

Lots of people are saying so.

I really don’t understand why they say it’s embarrassing for Fox. Their audience, even they themselves, don’t care about facts, and they haven’t cared for years now.

Maybe it’s just because he let himself be shown up by a woman.

The thing is, Fox viewers will watch this stuff and think Doocy is winning the exchanges.

No. It’s a bitch hunt. Bitch is hunting for bullshit.

Or a lot of their viewers have fantasies about being a sub.

Exactly this. The just make shit up out of whole cloth et voilĂ , that becomes their truth.

E.g.:

We have always known this about the difference between Trump Supporters and Biden ones.

Gosh, what a shocking and unexpected turn of events!

That’s too bad, I thought for sure Republicans were going to do the right thing here and negotiate in good faith.

“God forbid we catch tax cheats, especially if they contribute generously to our campaigns! Taxation is theft (well, capital gains taxes, anyway–state sales taxes on such optional frivolities as TP and toothpaste are fine)! But deficits are also bad (if a Dem is in the White House)!”

Your weekly that everyone you know that voted for one of these pieces of shit is a fucking murderer deserving of hatred.

That’s a bit harsh, dude. I would say that everyone that voted that way is worthy of general hate and derision. Actual hatred is for the politicians themselves. :)

I dialed that back substantially from the original sentiment!

I totally believe that. But you be you. You say the things that I think, but I am too much of a coward to post here.

I really think the Biden administration is off base here. I want social media companies to combat misinformation, but I am loath to have the US government deciding what “misinformation” is. This feels like any law would have opportunities for unexpected outcomes galore.

This in particular scares me. Imagine what a second Trump administration would classify as “misinformation.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki previously said the Biden administration had started “flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation,” and that the government had proposed changes to major social media platforms.

I understand the sentiment, but if not a governmental entity then whom?

Facebook? Twitter? They’re sociopathic at best, very much by design (capitalism, whee!).

Some kind of transparent government agency is probably our best bet. I don’t know how we avoid regulatory capture or Republicans lighting everything on fire next time America has a collective stroke, but tell me with a straight face that the FDA isn’t the worst food and drug regulation agency except for every other one we’ve tried.

Yes this is a real challenge. Any “fact checking” organization could end up being biased in some way or another.

But the Supreme Court has been pretty clear about government intervening in private speech - there are very strict limits.

I don’t know the answer to this. I think people have a right to lie on social media as part of the First Amendment, but also recognize that there’s a line that can be crossed.
