Close, the constituents that matter want them to push hard. The reason the Republicans cater so hard to the fringe base is that those people turn out disproportionately in primaries which are the real elections that Republicans in red states need to win.

Weird. I saw a bunch of people mocking it on twitter and had a similar thought. Maybe they misspell things intentionally because of all the extra attention it brings. There are a lot of democrats and media people currently retweeting it that may not have paid much attention otherwise.

Gonna be an exciting week. Nancy Pelosi says the House will pass the $1T infrastructure bill this week, while there still doesn’t seem to be any sort of real movement on the reconciliation bill from Manchin or Sinema. Sinema was quoted in the NYT over the weekend saying she was opposed to any tax increases on the wealthy or on corporations.

So, buckle up!

Manchin needs to finish building his narrative that he stood up to Biden and the liberal Dems, got X and Y taken out of the bill and cut it to whatever lower number, got Z in there for the people of WV, and so forth.

Once Manchin finds a way home, presumably it’s a lot harder to hold up that giant STOP sign all by yourself.
