That’s my Rep! He’s… something, ain’t he?

I dunno, I’d like to see some polling from his district. I’m pretty sure that I have seen polling from e.g. West Virginia, which shows that the BBB agenda is pretty popular in that very very red place, as a counter to Manchin’s own nonsense about the bill.

Edit: Yeah, found some.

Looking forward to the campaign ad where he kicks dogs and drowns kittens.

… and still win with 60% of the vote, like always. Sigh.

Utah voters approved via ballot initiative a non-partisan redistricting commission in 2018 but the GOP legislature just threw out their maps and installed their own, so there goes much hope of seeing Utah get back its Dem representative or getting rid of this chump any time soon.

The GOP message is basically vote for us and our two-pronged strategy of first stopping the Marxist Democratic agenda and second killing and eating you, our voters. And of course the voters are all “hey, that sounds good, count me in!”

Heh, I remember in high school US history we learned that poor whites were willing to vote* against their own interests because racism, so it’s not like this is a new phenomenon. Or, you know, some big secret, since it was taught to high schoolers.

*In this case, it was actually not voting, but rather supporting poll taxes, etc, after the grandfathering voting rule was thrown out.

The disarray is over 9,000.

Dem Veeps disarrayed!

At a certain level, who gives a flying fig what is going on with the vice president?

I would assume the VP cares.

So the day to day of the VP is really like the tv series VEEP.

:D

That’s exactly my take. I have no idea how, but someone seems to be feeding a media narrative outside the Fox News bubble that gives a report on current events with a negative slant to the Biden administration in every headline. Last week it was “Biden administration struggling with inflation” type headlines and now it’s “Biden administration struggling with VP.”

I’m legit worried about his re-election chances if nearly every media outlet is playing this game of including a "Biden admin is struggling with . . . " framing in every headline about everything going on.

“Biden admin struggling with media”

Biden’s not getting re-elected. He might not even run.

After weeks of “Biden Administration Struggling With _______” headlines the payoff will be…
“Does the Biden Administration Have An Image Problem?”

Thanks media. You would think after four years of being labeled as an Enemy of the State most of the media would be all too happy to give the Biden Administration some decent coverage and maybe stick to more fact-based and truthful reporting. Nope. Still a clown show. Then they’ll act surprised in 2024 when the other party takes over and begins a campaign to dismantle independent journalism in America. “But we covered both sides!” they’ll cry as the headsman swings the axe.

Honestly, in how many administrations has the VP does anything but fuck all? Mostly they do ribbon cutting and show up for things the President can’t be bothered to attend. Why in the hell Harris should be any different is beyond me.

I don’t have the slightest idea what is going to happen 3 years from now. But if I had to guess one thing, it would be that Biden will be the nominee.

He’d obviously have my vote but I’m not real keen on voting for an 83 year old for President either. If that’s the best chance at holding the White House then great, otherwise the age is a real concern for me.

Exactly. That’s why I get twitchy when I see headlines about VP flailing because it doesn’t matter at all and is only newsworthy if someone is cynically chasing eyeballs from people already disposed to hate on the Biden admin. That’s not journalism, it’s cynically encouraging extremism to get a buck or two more in ad revenue.

Speaking of “Biden Administration in disarray” I was buying some groceries yesterday and the subject of high gas prices came up while talking to the checker, a dude who looked about my age (60). He says “You know who you have to thank for that?” Of course he said Biden.

I don’t know how this guy thinks that Biden has that kind of control over time and space, not to mention gas and other prices but I didn’t want to get in an argument.

These bozos just don’t seem to understand that most of the world is still unvaccinated against COVID-19, and the shortage of supply resulting from the disruptions due to people getting sick/dying is the cause of the inflation we’re seeing.

But Trump would fix everything overnight, of course.

I actually don’t know why gas prices are high. We import most of our oil from Canada and refine most of it within our own borders. I gather that refinery output is down because Hurricane Ida wreaked havoc on the Gulf Coast where most of our refineries are. And our crude supplies are low because I’m not sure? I suspect there’s a lag between demand and crude storage, so crude supply hasn’t caught up to the vast increase in gasoline demand over the summer as people worked out their cabin fever by driving everywhere.

Things around the world are getting back to “normal.” That means a lot more people driving around, which drives oil prices up. The market for oil is global, not just the US.
