My nephew’s wife has this FB page she uses for selling crafts she makes. Last night, on Christmas Eve, she decided to post a “Let’s Go Brandon” T-shirt for sale. I unfollowed the page.

I have some relatives-in-law that just posted something similar. Let’s Go Brandon t-shirts, banners and mugs. All class.

Yesterday a friend showed me their Christmas present: a pen. I was like “is this gold ink? Why does it have a USB port? Is it actually a flashlight?” I have never felt so old and dumb, so I’m sympathetic to Biden.

Wow, really? I’m so out of touch with that culture. I thought it was a combo pen and USB flash drive which is a tchotchke I got ages ago at some conference.

So I don’t think this is on us for not knowing because we’re old, it’s a drug thing. Also they are repurposing a standard word. I’m sure if someone got a “mouse” in 1985 (or whatever year those became common) people would be confused too.

I just had my first experience with one of those last night. Was with a partner one year older than myself, and we both had to occasionally explain a few things due to being from two different internet cultures. ^_^

Yeah, I suppose so. And the people who hang out with them. I mean this friend with the “pen” was over 40, so you’re right it’s not young people. That said, I was pretty embarrassed to have been like “uh, is it like a flashlight or something?” Definitely lost some cool points there. And I don’t have very many of those to spare in the first place :)

My parents both smoked my whole life, my dad died of it when I was 27. I have decoupled “smoking” from “cool” in my head so I didn’t even put that together.

Vaping isn’t really cool in my mind. It is just another way to gamble with cancer and get addicted to nicotine.
