At least they’ll be talking about real shit people can understand, like making voting less of a pain (due to mail in voting among other things) especially in a country where (so far) General Election day isn’t a paid holiday for all.

I used to be all-in on the “make conservatives vote against popular things so the Democrats can use it as a cudgel against them in the next election” train, but the last year has me convinced that it literally doesn’t matter anymore. The Democrats could push a bill called the Puppies Are Cute Act that solely declares that the US recognizes the cuteness of puppies, and every Republican would happily go on record as being against it, and if they are ever asked about it, they’ll just dribble out some nonsense about critical race theory, and they’ll get reelected in a landslide.

And that’s for something that has literally no conceivable opposition. For voting legislation, where they already have all their talking points prepared about fraud and stolen elections? Not a single Republican will lose votes over their opposition to it.

Add to that that debate isn’t really debate but is instead just everyone reading speeches they wrote justifying their already-decided opinion, and I’m not sure what value there even is in bringing up bills if you don’t already have the votes. There used to be a time when having your positions in the public record meant something, but we aren’t in those times anymore.

Personally, I’m putting down a fiver that Manchin and Sinema will spend about six months suggesting that they might possibly be open to voting legislation and changing their terms before ultimately coming out against it.

"Look, no one is arguing that the vast majority of puppies aren’t cute. However, The Puppies Are Cute Act (PACA) is thinly veiled socialism. I mean, think about it. We go around declaring that all puppies are cute and next thing you know they all want to be carried around in bags and hand-fed treats all day. What about the working dogs? Shepherds, Labradors, Collies, etc., are undeniably adorable as puppies, but they pull themselves up by the paw pads and do the work that makes this country great. Is it fair to them to just go around handing out trophies for cuteness to every dog? What are we teaching our pups if we allow that? PACA is an insult to working dogs everywhere! And what about our brave military and police service dogs? Valiantly serving their country while other dogs who’ve been told they’re cute and that they’re good boys their whole lives feel entitled to the same scritches and treats thanks to PACA.

I ask you, who is going to pay for all of this? We all know the answer, taxpayers. PACA means less bones in the pockets of working dogs so that lap dogs can continue to exploit the system as they always have. PACA is just another piece of socialist entitlement legislation by the Democrats meant to undermine the very foundation of this great country, and I, for one, and not afraid to howl in protest. I VOTE NO!"

Me too!

I wish…

“I wish these leopards would reconsider their position vis-a-vis my face, but I also have grave concerns about the Majority Leader’s language in the so-called anti-face-eating bill.”

“I wish there had been a more serious effort on the part of Democratic leaders to convince the leopards not to eat our faces.”

I’m very disappointed in Europe’s unwillingness to include Germany in these denouncements about incursions into the Sudetenland.

This really gets to the silliness of Sinema’s core argument.

ha ha you guys tried to parse something Sinema said aloud

Sadly many people defended Sinema a few years ago as a kind of modern woman goes to Washington, against the usual suspects making fun of her wardrobe choices ect. Except now it does seem she’s superficial, and if not bad faith, attention seeking :/.

LOL45

Also that comic is excellent

Will be interesting to see if this story actually pans out as true:

For those of us keeping score, both Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger voted against the House voting rights bill. There are no ‘decent, honorable’ Republicans.

So Sinema is confirming that she’s insane? Who would vote for her? Republicans? Democrats?

I’m betting Matt Gaetz would…and maybe Jeffrey Epstein and Giselle Maxwell if they could still vote.

I mean honestly, yes. She’s confirming it. She’s a delusional narcissist, which explains why she ever ran in the first place despite having a drunk hamster for a brain.

If Siskind’s source is correct, Sinema thinkin she can run as a Dem after poisoning that well and still see enough support from that base and fill the holes with Republican voters. . .good luck with that. Republicans are going to overwhelmingly vote for the Republican candidate.
