3 weeks till I can tell you! Or can’t, because I’m languishing in bed, lamenting that my pitiable life has come to an end at the hands of moderate fatigue.

Just as a data point other than having a bit of stiff arm I had no effect at all from the vaccine. The second shot was considerably easier than the first and I didn’t even have a sore arm afterwards.

That’s excellent! My own second shot was nothing - it didn’t hurt more than a bit that night like a flu shot, though the next morning it was a bit sore and I did some push ups to move things along and it felt much better after that. My father in law, I just found out, didn’t have any side effects or muscle pain either, so I’m not trying to tell people it’s 100% or anything, just that anecdotally I personally and in real life know now 1 person in maybe 7 or 8 that didn’t feel arm pain.

My first shot didn’t hurt at all, though I was a bit achy overnight. But once I was up and moving the next morning I felt pretty much normal. Maybe I took a couple of Tylenol. But after that, it was back to normal. Maybe that means my immune system really needed this!

Sore shoulder for two days here. No other side effects.

Mom and dad have their 2nd shots tomorrow morning and spent the day updating their wills via the power of whining.

Actually, my arm that I got the Phizer shot in was a bit sore for a week or so. I attributed it to old age, sleeping on it wrong, etc. It wasn’t constant pain, just soreness when I reached across my body. Most motion I had with the arm was pain free. That’s why I assumed it was due to sleeping on it in a weird position.

Thing about being older is things hurt for no apparent reason. I might wake up tomorrow and my right ankle will be sore and I will have no idea why, so I assume it’s just aging.

Same! But I find I can usually track those pains to specific things I inadvertently did to cause the problem. For example, my knees were aching now and then but I gradually I realized it was from putting my feet up on my desk for extended periods and the pain was caused by the steady strain of gravity. So now I make sure my knees are supported if I kick my feet up.

Another time, I woke up two nights in a row with crazy painful charlie horse cramps. Well, I had set up a new TV and chair and I was watching with my legs crossed. I realized the cramps were happening right in the spot where my kneecap was pressing against my calf muscle so that was easily rectified.

So let’s pay careful attention to what we’re doing with our aging bodies, fellow Qt3ers!..

The day I got the shot, it felt like I just made a stripe in the Air Force.

No ill effects from 1st Moderna shot here. No pain whatsoever in the arm the next day.

Apparently that means you don’t have an immune system. Sorry man, RIP.

How are y’all getting the shots?

In the arm. From a needle.

More precisely, the shoulder!

But not the bicep.

Never go full bicep.

To actually answer your question, in Utah as of March 8th anyone over the age of 50 or with a BMI of 30 or a bunch of other health-related issues can get the vaccine. As of April 1st, all adults are eligible to sign up.

Sorry, Matt, just having some fun.

Rules vary a lot from state to state, but I suspect many of us on QT3 are old and decrepit and qualify fairly early. Personally I am eligible as a college educator.

Walgreens website/app signups for me. If you’re in an allowed group in your area of residence, you fill out a short questionnaire and are taken to a store/appt search page. If there aren’t results, you can go back and re-do the search every few mins in case someone drops out or they add more slots (they seem to do so at midnight local around here, at least). Once I was eligible, it only took a couple of days of intermittent refreshing to snag a spot.

For Walgreens in particular, they do require you book both appt’s at once (at least as of when I was signing up, they were defaulting to Moderna), which sometimes makes a seemingly available appointment slot not work for whatever reason, like creating a round trip flight with departing and arriving flights.

The website also times out after a few minutes, but seems to save the entries you make on the questionnaire, so it’s pretty quick to log back in and click through to the search again.

Ah, I’m just not in an allowed group, and no idea when CA will start vaccinating everyone. I’ve got to a couple of Walgreens at the end of the day hoping they’d have leftover doses, but no luck.

The California website helpfully says “Spring 2021”. (Vaccines - Coronavirus COVID-19 Response). So… sometime before summer, I guess? I’m in the same boat.
