Because obviously. It’s still 2020 after all.
I’m sure that Joe Biden disagrees with you both. Will Republican attempt to sabotage their efforts, you bet. Will they be successful? Given our collective epic failure to forecast the future, I think some humility is appropriate.

I think this has yet to be demonstrated. I’m sure there’s lots of hang-wringing today, but it’s far too early for analysis of how and why pollsters fucked up this go round.
They’ll live on doing sports commentary. I really hope they just step out of politics for good. Maybe they can design website data visualization interactives. They’re good at that.

Kelly looks good, even if Biden has trouble with these new ballots Kelly is outperforming him so shouldn’t be a problem.
Peters, though, come on man. I feel like for 2022 it needs to be at least 52-48.

I’ll be extremely upset if Biden is stupid or gullible enough to work with anyone that has supported Trump. There’s nothing to be gained from it.

538 Politics going down the toilet would be one of the better outcomes of the night. It does not matter how fancy a model you have when the polls have severe systematic error.
Dems need to spend less time looking at polls in the lead up to elections, and more time getting out the vote and trying to persuade people of their cause.

OTOH, if a guy punches me every time I offer to shake his hand, after a couple of dozen blows, I might start to be wary.

It’s worth thinking about how his Presidency is one long campaign with endless rallies. Progressives tune out, but clearly Republicans do not. It’s basically those voters, whoever they are, turning out in record numbers. Deplorables I guess, but they’re the ones he’s speaking to, and they’re listening.

I don’t really get this. Don’t campaigns (both R and D) use polls to figure out where to spend money and where to really GOTV? I know the polls are flawed but how do you decide where to allocate those efforts specifically?
In terms of persuading people, open to suggestions. I find it’s hard to get people to listen to you when they believe you’re supporting a cannibalistic pedophile. I mean, sure, healthcare would be nice but they are raping babies and then eating them.

Except the possibility of actually accomplishing things.
That’s something to be gained.

For Biden and the American people. What’s to gain for McConnell? He’ll want to portray Biden as a failed president just as he tried to do with Obama.

The GOP also won the House and Senate in 2016. That’s the diff Jon. And it’s a huge one.
Really? How about expanding health insurance to more people. Maybe passing some form economic help for people affected by Covid. Make sure that people get the CornaVirus vaccine. Perhaps some compromise on climate change.
The best way for Democrats to win future elections is for Joe Biden and the Democrats to actually make government work. This is going to require the Democrats to work with moderate Republicans.
What’s your plan just to rail against how awful Republicans are for the next two years, and hope for better election results?
I’d love to see President Biden (fates willing) reaching across the aisle to accomplish great things with reasonable, persuadable Republicans. Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen over the last four years, there are no reasonable, persuadable Republicans. May I be as wrong about that as I’ve been about other things this year.
