Of course you are right, and I know it. I’m not ashamed to say that I was, in fact, overly optimistic, and this result (unfinalized as it is) has hurt. I really believed that we’d see an absolute repudiation of Trumpism, in at least solid gains in more purple states as well as evening up the Senate. I have deep, personal ties to the US (my sister, her husband, and my nephews live there, as do about a dozen or so of my cousins, and I usually visit annually and have since my earliest childhood, as my grandparents lived there, too).

This result was a shock to me, even though I’ve taken many a graduate level statistics class and done enough research to understand margins of error and the the various issues around polling/questionnaires. But @ArmandoPenblade is right, over 65 million Americans see what a racist, authoritarian, science-hating narcissistic liar Trump is, and yet they STILL want 4 more years of it. And it makes me sad. Sad enough to say that I’m disappointed, and that my fundamental faith in human goodness is shaken, but not sad enough to despair to the point of drinking or drugging myself. My wife and I vent to each other, and then we move on with our days. And I read this thread, and I appreciate all the viewpoints, except for the ones that insist on shutting down others’ feelings. That’s a sore point for me, and so I speak up. If it offends, I accept that. But it is coming from a place of hope, and healing.

There was an incident with two counties accidentally double-counting votes, but those counties were blood red (Randolph and Rockingham, Randolph is the most blood red county in NC)

I have an 11 year old nephew who is white. And I have a 6 year old newphew who is basically 1/4 black.

We’ve been having talks at work, in an Equity Diversity and Inclusion group that has actually made some significant changes. Despite some beliefs, I am not a keyboard warrior. I actually do shit outside message boards. But here is the thing… almost all the non-white employees experience a similar soul crushing experience around 7-8 years old, when children and adults make you realize that you are different and different is not okay.

For a month, I thought, really thought that even though I knew this would not go away, publicly it would finally be announced that this experience is not okay and lessen the occurrences of millions of children all over this country coming home to the adults who love and care about them and asking them mommy, daddy, grandma, auntie what does insert racial slur mean.

Trump has emboldened the racists, and it will only get worse until publicly it’s just not acceptable again. And even then… it was never good, so the best I feel like I should hope for is to go back to the scarring of my childhood instead of something better for the kids behind me.

And I really don’t give a shit if someone thinks that’s off topic. This is what these numbers mean.

Hey, I won’t judge for going cheap. I have a case of Henry Weinhards that I initially got to put as slug traps for the garden.

It’s fine. It’ll never be my first grab, but if I’m having a second beer I will.

Alas it seems my favorites would be unavailable for you. But if you ever find yourself out west, I strongly recommend trying Pellican and Deschutes.

I picked up a few packs at either Winco or Fred Meyer in February-ish. Maybe as late as April-ish. Right now I am rocking some of their Bad Santa, so I expect we won’t see it until the new year at least, unless it was a one off release (it didn’t indicate it was)

EDIT: looking further their Raspberried at Sea is also not listed, which I know is a summer seasonal that appears yearly. I’ve got 2 left. Yeah definitely just a case of seasonality. Once they are available again I’ll give it a shout out somewhere.

There are some counties that are expected to Lean Biden that have not announced numbers yet. I’m guessing they think that will pad Biden’s lead enough to make the Trump lean in Maricopa irrelevant.

Believe me, as an American who turned 18 in the 1970s and assumed we’d keep seeing the social progress of that and the previous decade continue in my country, it’s been a rough few decades, and a really rough 4 years to behold.
