Assuming our guy wins it tomorrow, I’m very much looking forward to seeing the celebrations both here and around the world.

Poll workers are working extremely hard at a painstaking task and risking exposure to COVID because of their sense of duty to their community and country, and they are getting reviled and threatened on social media for their trouble, with Trump and a variety of Republican talking heads spurring the braying mob on.

Sorry for bringing this to the primordial, but have you ever tried some the Red Zinfandel wines? I find them to be just the perfect blend of sweet and sublime. Give it a try :)

Poor workers in Philly. They’re gonna finally finish tomorrow…

…and then find out “Hey, at close of business today, we can adjudicate this gigantic tranche of provisional ballots! Won’t that be fun!”

For most of the provisional ballots, it’ll go fairly fast though. Scan the ballot, make sure that person had no other ballot counted, and then good to go. No envelopes to open at least.

OK, 10 minutes for GA or PA to post an update, or I’m cashing in for the night.

First, condolences to both of you guys.

My late dad despised Trump, and had the good fortune to see Trump only as the presumptive Republican nominee and never as President. If age-related illness hadn’t taken him in June 2016, the first year of the Trump Traveling Shitshow would have for sure.

I’m watching Die Hard With a Vengeance to take a break from the news and what do I get??

Geez, has Jar Jar Martin gotten even bigger? That is him, right?

I hope, I truly hope and have kept the despair away. I just want the seal of what is right and true to be confirmed, and the spirit of true democracy to triumph when it’s needed the most. A few more hours…

I know that the Senate races are still in balance, and it’s going to be a while until we know the results - I just have to believe that the world’s best hope can pull it through.

Oh, so this is why all those numbers guys were being so cagey with their phrasing:

Oh come ONNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

I was sure this would be over by the time I woke up. Sigh.

Anyway, you guys are clueless and the Real Deal pizza is the Buenos Aires Pizza a la piedra.

Yeah nah, she is too sassy for Donald Trump.

This might warrant a separate discussion topic - but I firmly believe that the US is still the primary driver of Democracy and all that has been right since 1945. Can’t have that go wrong - these past 4 years have been SO OFF but everything I see and read and feel TODAY tells me that everything the US has stood for the last decades is still the right way to go about it.

Just hopin’ that a few thousand votes in the right place makes the difference when a few million won’t :)

Heh.

She’s the NYPD switchboard operator just finding out that her tiny office is expected to handle all police calls for the day… for the cops have been fooled by evil Jeremy Irons into silencing their radios!

Haven’t seen this silly movie since it came out but I’m finding it super fun to revisit Manhattan as it looked when I first moved there after college in '93. (It’s weird getting older and seeing chapters of your life reflected in period films!)

I am not actually a big pizza guy, but this has me intrigued.

Trump’s Georgia lead down to ~660.

I’ve always wanted to see Buenos Aires (being a huge fan of Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortázar), and now I have one more reason to make the trip!

Four years ago on election day, soon after it was clear Trump would henceforth be called President Trump, a scantily clad dancer appeared on an empty highway, surrounded by empty countryside and adjacent to & directly visible from the interstate, between Eugene and my hometown. For the rest of the day she danced next to her car, a small sedan that had a giant hand-made sign with only one word across it, drawn in bold: “OPTIMISM”

Over the years she has occasionally re-appeared, dancing her heart out, and one day showed up with an even bigger, brighter, printed banner that continued to read: OPTIMISM. It didn’t matter what time of year it was, or what the weather was like that day, if something big were happening in the news she’d don her dancing clothes and hit the blacktop. But two years ago she stopped making appearances, and while I don’t know why, her absence didn’t go unnoticed.

Fast forward to November 3rd, 2020, and suddenly the dancing lady was back in all her glory. This time surrounded by a small group of people out in the middle of nowhere, and she danced all day. We call her the Optimism Lady and we still don’t know a thing about her, but by now she’s been a small topic of discussion in my house for years.

Sometimes it’s hard to be optimistic, but on the rare moment we catch a glimpse of her as we speed by on the interstate it’s always the highlight of our day.

It’s happening!!!

I just took a sleeping pill to go to bed, but now I can’t go to sleep until I see a blue Georgia. I’ve probably got about an hour before I’ll be too groggy to enjoy it.

Sounds like it’s just Clayton that’s still counting tonight. Gwinnett is on hold until morning.
