Totally missed this post in the midst of all this. My condolences, KevinC. I hope it’s up from here, I really do.

Oh my god I forgot to check for that! Normally I don’t cry but right now I have tears streaming down my cheeks!

To be honest, even though its both insane and insanely annoying, public figures like Popular White Girl Singer, uh… Taylor Swift, are sort of the future of making progressive strides in the country. As much as progressives want that rainbow coalition proudly marching ahead of them, the rest of the country doesn’t want it, because it doesn’t look like them. That’s a hard truth, and you either reject it and get gridlock for two decades, or embrace it and put the Biden’s and the Swift’s as the face of the Democratic party for the next decade. There’s a reason those Third Way guys are always waiting in the wings.

Then work harder.

This shit is work. And not post memes and shit on twitter. Like, real, honest to god work where you go and talk to people in person. That’s how you convince people. Not on the internet, where people only talk to folks they already agree with.

As the father of a four year old girl, I feel that.

This entire generation of humanity has unforgivably dropped the ball on the climate question. I can actually forgive some of that as a glitch of human psychology (climate change proceeds just slowly enough that it never, so far at least, attains the urgency of a war or a pandemic, despite its ramifications potentially being far greater). But when, as the GOP has done, people aggressively try to hasten climate change, apparently out of sheer spite and/or prideful ignorance, I’m all outta forgiveness.

Another conclusion to reach is that the professional Democratic strategists all need replacing. What they’re doing isn’t working out terribly well.

Wisconsin seems headed to a recount.

There are more of us, but the apparent problem is we don’t count because we all live clustered together.

Like i’ve been saying though, structurally and strategically it’s much harder to be the party of everyone else, when all the GOP has to do is play to one somewhat larger group.

Oh. Thanks.

Yes, the structure of the system is rigged against us. I’m well aware.

This.

Well i mean, i’m not glad your predictions are working out ;) but good job at getting things mostly right (so far).

Georgia went from +300000 for Trump at 85% total counted votes to ~ +102000 at 92%. Remaining votes are all mostly coming from same counties which had these pro Biden numbers. GA, even more than PA, will likely be a Biden pick-up.

In Senate race, with Peters ahead now in Michigan, Democrats are at 48. If somehow final votes from NC can fold in Cunningham’s way (behind 65000 votes I think, with 5% votes remaining), and Gideon wins in Maine, they have the Senate majority.

It’s sort of like Timex has been saying, and like the imaginary conversation i want to have with people like Ezra Klein, which is to ask liberals “Can you live with Conservatives?” and if the answer is a steadfast No, you need to think of what that future looks like. Because you’re never, ever going to completely “beat” them.

They revel in making this country miserable and punishing the innocent when harm comes their way. How does one live with that?

Gah fuck.

Gideon lost.

You - and not you buddy, you’ve got more than your fair share to deal with - but the plural You, have to decide what that means.
