I’m exhausted from this fight :(
Or maybe it’s just all the hurdles I keep having to clear with my health and personal life.
Bringing FDR into the discussion is a moot point when the current US president has more in common with the Führer FDR fought against.
Is Biden comparable to FDR? I doubt it. Very few men would be, but I hope so.

We all are. But think about someone like John Lewis and what he went through during his life. He never gave up. He knew that it was a daily struggle and a lifetime commitment.
“Take a long, hard look down the road you will have to travel once you have made a commitment to work for change. Know that this transformation will not happen right away. Change often takes time. It rarely happens all at once. In the movement, we didn’t know how history would play itself out. When we were getting arrested and waiting in jail or standing in unmovable lines on the courthouse steps, we didn’t know what would happen, but we knew it had to happen.”
— Lewis on protesting in Across That Bridge: Life Lessons and a Vision for Change

I still think Biden is favorite to win but less confident than I was around 6 am. I keep seeing GOP hopes in AZ. And that’s what I think Trump campaign is down to…Hoping AZ is wrong and that goes Trump.
We are going to get new Nevada numbers in about 15 minutes, which will be so critical if Pennsylvania is slipping away
In 2016 it could be argued that folks didn’t fully understand who or what they were voting for in Trump. After four years, the idea that anyone, let alone nearly half our electorate, would willingly vote for him is chilling. Biden squeezing out a win is better than Trump remaining in office but our country has failed to repudiate fascism. That’s a good reason to be sad.
All I know is, I don’t see how being a bunch of glummy gloomies helps us. We take the win - if win it be - and fight the fuck on.

No kidding. Poor black neighborhoods are the same as states that keep voting for a complete imbecile like Trump. That’s pretty nonsensical.
Shitty people in shit states aren’t shitty because of their race, income, etc, but because of their shitty beliefs. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
Yeah, it sucks.
You know what else sucks? The planet is melting and nobody cares except a Swedish teenager and some scientists who seem to be shouting into the void.*
Despair is tempting, but for me at least, it’s not an option.
*note: I am aware that this is hyperbole.
I guess it’s important to know how difficult the fight is… and also what it means if you lose the fight. One person’s “gloom” is another person’s “motivation”.
The only certainty is that there is a fight to be had, and it’s important to not lose sight of that.
Yes. Before we were seduced by the polls, this was the impossible goal.
I guess it helps (?) never to have believed anything other than that they knew exactly what they were doing. Sigh.

You’ve got it backwards. The comparison was your hatefulness to racists, not the targets of either. Take a breath, figure out a better way to criticize broad, diverse groups of people. I know the EC sucks but it’s not like a set of beliefs get downloaded into every brain in a state after the vote is cast.
in-person election day voting was very light here in Wake Co, NC as well. Over 2/3 of our precinct voters had voted early, and we setup for a LARGE turnout for the remainder, but only had about an average of 1 voter every 2 minutes over the whole day!
I would be curious what numbers they are seeing in Arizona… Maricopa is currently +6 Biden, and Pima is +22 Biden. They have 14% and 11% of their votes left to count. Maricopa went to Trump in 2016 by 2.8pts, so I guess they are hoping that the remaining vote there falls heavily to Trump? There may be evidence of that… I’m not sure if there is anything particular about that remaining vote (day-of, early vote, military, whatever) that would support that.
The rest of the GOP counties of any material size are already in.

Yeah no. You need to reach deep down and ask yourself why the hell you would use that, that specific example, as a comparison.
Without a doubt, the fight continues, the fight must continue but yeah, your climate analogy is apt because, for me at least, there were moments of shock when I realized that things were much much worse than I thought. We move on from that shock because we must but it’s pretty hard not to be rocked for a day or two.

I find this very hard to believe.

When I think of people mindlessly insulting other groups of people, I think of racism. When I think of people saying they’re better than other groups of people because they are more economically successful, I think of racism. I live in Kentucky, I hear this shit far too often despite my best attempts to build a liberal bubble.
