Ok, you’re objecting to the term ‘shit state’ which I understand. It’s just frustrating seeing the same states routinely support such awful people. Clearly the state itself isn’t shitty; it’s the people inside the state that hold such horrendous beliefs that I really can’t stand. I’m comfortable with my stance that racists are shitty people though. Someone that hates someone based solely on their skin color, or inherent sexual preference (as that usually goes hand in hand) is a shitty person to me. They’re welcome to change that belief and become a non-shitty person but I’m not holding out hope.

I feel like the NYT website hasn’t updated anything all morning.

That doesn’t make sense though. Insulting people because of their shitty beliefs isn’t the same as hating people because of their skin color.

100%. It’s just frustrating to be constantly insulted as though we’re a monobloc.
Re: global warming: at least we have a last resort in using nukes to conjure an on-demand nuclear winter while trying to minimize its negative effects. How’s that for a ray of sunshine? ;)

Except you didn’t say racism or racist did you?
What you did is try and play to a very specific stereotype like it was… real, actually pushing that stereotype while doing it.
Don’t use poor black neighborhoods like that, like some sort of tool to justify not calling out racists.
As we all know, calling a racist a racist is a bigger problem than the fact that the racist is a racist.

Hope is that the outstanding vote count is from some heavily populated trump rural counties and that the late early voters are more pro-trump so that closes cap in maricopa.
I think it’s a thin reed but probably best hope

The stereotype I was pushing was that of a stereotypical racist logic, hating geographies or groups in total. I don’t know how you get “not calling out racists” from that.

I’ll retract my ‘shitty state’ phrasing and replace it with ‘state that is populated mainly by shitty people’. To paraphrase The Lost Boys, Kentucky is a fine place, except for all the racists. It’s unfortunate you’re surrounded by them but it doesn’t seem like it’ll get better anytime soon. I honestly feel for people stuck in situations like that. Seems like we’re still years or decades away from making significant progress in that area.
To add to that, I grew up in Texas. I know a hell of a lot of great people in Texas. But they’re outnumbered by the shitty ones right now. I don’t think every Texan is shitty but it colors my opinion of the state as a whole.

Why black? Why did you pick black and and not a 100 other groups? Why not LatinX?
I thought the accepted terminology was “shithole.”
By my napkin math, Biden needs to take 75% of the uncounted vote in PA to close the gap. My math may suck.
His margins in the cities are no where near that. It’s at like 60%. I don’t see it happening.
Maybe he was just going to use any group that happens to be often unfairly stereotyped and generalized in attitude.
NYT estimates 400k outstanding ballots in 2016 Trump counties and 80k in 2016 Clinton counties.
The question is wether the remaining ballots from the big counties ballots will favor Trump as in 2016 or Biden as the already counted ballots.

That is part of what I’ve been seeing. Henry Olsen calculated Trump needed > 60 of in person last night and Trump ended up at 65 Percent…
Samuel Tilden’s corpse would like a word with you about the election of 1876.

It could have been LatinX, certainly, or LGBTQ. In Kentucky, in Louisville, in 2020 racism against the black community is front of mind more than it has even been. I certainly didn’t mean to offend with the analogy, my point was the error of the thinking, not somehow trying to say a black neighborhood was a shitty place. You get that my whole point was to NOT use that sort of hateful language?
