Yes. Except you’re trying to compare someone’s choice of political stance and views of other races, the racists, and comparing it to the multiple century oppressions, rape and murder, and ongoing persecution of a people based on nothing other than their race like they’re the same. While at the same time picking one of the most prolific political imageries that the current president uses to try and scare white suburban women into voting for him.

Do you see a problem with that?

Put like that, of course. But that is, again, the opposite of what I was saying. It sounds like you’re trying to argue that some states actually are comprehensively shitty, and you didn’t like the comparison. Is that the case? I was saying that Rowe’s broad-brush hatefulness sounded like the same shit racists say, not anything about the targets, as I said previously. You can interchange homophobes or whatever broad-brush hatefulness you choose.

I know that it sounds like something a banana Republic would do, but it is very necessary that Donald Trump ends up in jail and/or bankrupt. There are lots of laws which make it challenging for convicted felons to run for office.

If you want to compare someone’s view, then compare them to someone’s views. The black community is not just a thing. We’re people and… we also have views.

So if you want to compare the views of racists in the same areas as other groups who are not racists… then compare to their views, not their mere existence. Of course you would actually have to know those views in order to compare them.

Otherwise it’s look at these horrible views and just… them, as if they don’t have depth.

Peters just took the lead in the Michigan Senate race! Biden increased is lead as well. Now if we can only hold Arizona, or pickup Georgia/Pennsylvania, things are looking good…

Well said, I’ll leave it there. Back to nailbiting.

Very. I’m curious why they expect Pima to break for Trump, though. That’s Tucson which is pretty solidly blue.

This place is an Arizona outfit, but otherwise not much is known about them and they definitely seem to slant Republican. I would take it with a grain of salt unless other places start agreeing.

QFT45

This dude has the goods on AZ.

Gideon concedes to Collins. Pretty much means Dems would need to sweep GA as I only have them down for +1 (up AZ/CO and down AL)

According to them, the outstanding ballots are mail-in ballots with a 20% Republican registration edge. If true and Arizona goes red, I’m going to have to start drinking again.

Is the House in the bag at this point, at least?

I believe it is, yes.

Have they shown that particular math?

Yes but Republicans are looking like they may make some solid gains.

Dems will maintain House but LOSE seats which I don’t think anyone saw coming. Politico’s Tim Alberta is dunking on some pollsters b/c Alberta was quoting Slotkin about how everything was tighter than pollsters were saying. Pollsters mocked Alberta and now Slotkin has been in nailbiter.

So is there any confidence in the party officials belief that Biden will end up with 100K edge in Pennsylvania? Because we’re going to need it.

Yeah, that’s what I’m trying (and failing) to find. If they have actual data on that, they could well be right and it’ll be a nail biter to the end. If they’re extrapolating from other sources, that introduces a LOT more variance and smells of wishful thinking. I don’t know enough about that source to have any idea what to expect.

Political outcomes in this country depend heavily on the collective actions of voters grouped by state because of the Senate and the Electoral College. When people say that a state is “shitty” they don’t mean that every single person in that state is shitty. They mean that state consistently produces political results with deleterious effects on the rest of us, typically far out of proportion to their population and economic contribution to the country as a whole. They take our money and beat the shit out of us. This isn’t at all like racism. Racism is pre-judging individuals based on (wrong) perceptions of a group they belong to. This is judging a group based on its actions as a group and has nothing to do with individuals at all. Every state has its saints and assholes. But not every state sends Mitch McConnell to the Senate every 6 years.
