The good news is that my block watch found the gasoline stashed behind the businesses.

The bad news is that apparently it’s way more on than anyone thought.

Great idea. Let’s see if you can manage it.

Not buying it since at least one station (WOIO) made a statement about the ban. Glad they realized what a colossally bad idea it was, at any rate.

Well, that’s up to you, of course.

It shouldn’t take too much Googling, though, to find a large number of stories of affluent American black people who end up on the wrong side of the police. Having dark skin marks you as a member of the class that it’s OK for cops (and citizens for that matter) to harass and injure at will, knowing that they can do so mostly with impunity.

I’m sure conditions in Moldova are terrible for their poor people, and I wish we could do something for them. But it is probably a bit off-topic in this thread.

Frey should resign when this is over. So should Freeman.

I wouldn’t be mad.

I have a feeling, with no supporting evidence, that Walz and/or the other powers that be told the both of them that they were done and to sit the fuck down.

Which was correct, if so.

Are you suggesting that we should just ignore this murder and move on?

Or are you suggesting that it’s ok to spend some time talking about it, but not this much?

If so, could you please let us know how much we are allowed to care about this before we move on and attempt to cure poverty?

No “might” about it.

I have an apartment in Santa Monica that I use when I’m working down there. I haven’t been back in a few months due to Covid, but they just emailed me to let me know that the Target on the ground floor is being looted and LAPD is there now.

Target CEO regretting that choice for a store name.

That’s a hell of an email to get. What are you expected to do? Just be aware, I guess? Damn, man.

They were letting me know that they’ve locked down the elevators and locked the garage doors. I’m really glad I’m not there right now. My balcony is right over Santa Monica Blvd.

I don’t care for Amash, but this is a good idea and a good bill.

About time:

If he manages to shepherd this through for President Biden to sign, then he’s a national goddamn hero.

I read earlier that Brian Schatz in the Senate is going to introduce a bill to end the program that transfers military gear to police departments. That’s another good idea, but they’ll need something to pry away the military equipment already out there. Maybe a buyback program.

This is the real solution, assuming the SCOTUS doesn’t just make up a new law to get around it.

Apparently the Supreme Court have a couple of qualified immunity cases possibly before them this term, so maybe the liberal and libertarian ends of the court can find common cause here and end it from the bench.

That would be nice, but a clear directive from the legislative branch saying it’s bullshit and is over would be better. I suspect anything less will just be a weasel solution that doesn’t get rid of QI, but just slightly restricts it and allows it to exist for another 40-50 years.

This is quite good. I haven’t seen Doug Jones speak before, but this is a good message well delivered and seems very sincere.

I don’t suppose there is much chance he’ll win unless there is a blue landslide.
