Yeah, that’s my concern as well.
It’s the right thing. Is it enough? Who knows. But it’s a step in the right direction. It’s up to the people of Louisville to hold the mayor accountable if things don’t improve.
It’s also presumably what the mayor has the power to do. I severely doubt the mayor can terminate officers at his whim.

It seems to be many of ours which is actually reassuring.
If those two cops had anything to do with turning their cameras off, they need to be gone. They can’t just hide behind knowingly doing something wrong simply because my chief told me or some other person told me.
We don’t allow that in the military. Hell, even I cannot hide behind that, and I don’t even make life and death decisions. I cannot use the excuse that my boss or his boss or their boss told me to do this thing I know is wrong so why the hell should a cop be able to do that?
Those cameras are there for a reason, and everyone knows it.
Cause the video claims man being handcuffed was a FBI he is not. In the tweeter thread I saw the claimed the video was from Minneapolis this week, it is not. The video is lot more powerful if it is as labeled showing an FBI agent being arrested. We don’t know what started the incident, it sounds like the cops thought he was somebody else. He said he wasn’t and rather than pull out his ID he started calling the cop stupid motherfuckers and telling them they were wrong. Cops are allowed to ask people for their ID. I stand by one I said, either side could have quickly de-escalated the situation by simply politely asking for ID, or producing their ID.
The summer of my freshmen year college, I went back to my old high school, when I parked. I was greeted by two cops who drew guns on me and ordered me out of the car. After interrogating me they asked for my id which I promptly produced. They told me a looked like a robber suspect, and I’ll never forget the older cop saying “tell the cops the next time I’m pull over today that I’ve already been questioned.” I was pretty traumatized and I cut short my plans for the day, ran one errand avoiding cops, while driving the speed limit and then went home. I realize that what happened to me once in my life as a white man, is common occurrence to African American males. On the Chris Walllace show yesterday, Sen. Tim Scott said it happened him 7 times his first year in the Senate. It sucks bad, but I don’t think calling cops stupid motherfuckers does anything to help end it, nor does sharing that video.
I don’t know, I think showing that this has been happening for a long time and isn’t an isolated event - now when more people are willing to listen - has value.
Here’s the original, uncut video from the source. No claims of authority attached.
Ultimately it’s the business owners who will be footing the increased premiums. And maybe cover for this type of event will no longer be offered.
And what about the workers? Do they get paid while the stores are closed for repairs? Is there any guarantee those stores will actually re-open? How many might lose their jobs?
Now this lady is a racist piece of shit.

Well he had a attitude so I guess he had it coming…
Yeah, no.
Being mouthy to a cop is not a crime. I’ve said it before, and I am going to say it again. The black community is not required to be an ideal black person from the 60s in order to live our lives. We can be mouthy. We’re allowed to say no, have records, be irritated, be impatient… you know the whole spectrum of personalities and attitudes that everyone else has and can show. They tried arrest that man for no other reason than he was black. They had the wrong guy, clearly. There is no doubt here. They literally had the wrong guy. And the fact he didn’t get beat or shot or have some false charge for resisting arrest is a miracle.
I agree that’s fine. But somewhere along the line it suddenly turned into an FBI agent, that’s the problem with social media, it is so easy to manipulate the truth.
Did you miss the part where Barr said they were deploying the joint terrorism task force?
That’s what the military is doing on the call. They want to treat the protesters as terrorists. Which means enemy combatants. No due process, legal shootings in the “battlespace”, drones, midnight raids on organizers, seizing assets, all of it. Against Americans. That’s what they want to do.
And cops are allowed to be human, and get pissed off when they get called stupid, dumbass. We don’t know why the stopped the guy, it sounds like they thought he was some one else. Presumably, somebody they had an arrest warrant out for but we really don’t know. I’m sure there are hundreds of thousands of case of mistake identity every day in the law enforcement, some tiny percentage end in tragedy, and yes POC are disproportionately victims of both.
I have zero sympathy for the cops in this photo, and my heart breaks for the black dad.

If they cannot stay calm under pressure and de-escalate a situation, they have no business making life and death decisions, carrying a gun or a badge. The professional in that situation is the cop, not the citizen.
Damn right. Carrying that badge is supposed to mean that they are protectors, that they exemplify the law, not that they are above it. And there’s a huge difference between making a terrible mistake in a heated moment (I.e. human) and what we are setting in many places across the country.

And we have so many incidents in history where someone can say something like 20 to 50 years old, between 150 and 300 pounds and then just up and arrest any black guy in the area. If that were a description of white man… no way.
This is the first day since Trump got elected that broke me. I’ve been angry, I’ve been depressed, I’ve been sad but I’ve kept my head through it all. I’ve spoken out and worked to keep people educated about everything that’s going on. I’ve kept my head and stayed focused on what I can do to make a difference.
But just now, doing the dishes, I could feel my rage turning into an irritating buzz that wouldn’t clear. “When I’m done with these dishes I need to go for a long drive to clear my head.”. But then I just broke. I had to stop what I was doing and go down in the basement and cry.
My whole life I’ve had this burning hatred of racism and intolerance and injustice and now it’s all coming to a head and my anger and frustration just continues to build with each passing day. And the response of the police and the President is just stoking that rage and it’s just too much.
Normally I would check out. Take a break from the news and just try to get myself back to neutral before re engaging but that’s a luxury too many people don’t have right now. This is too important to turn away from, even for a day to clear my head.
So I’m going to take that drive and I’m going to get my shit together again but I just had to vent. I’m so fucking tired of Trumps America. I’m so fucking done. But we’re still here in this waking nightmare.
Someone on Twitter is compiling all the separate incidents during the various protests that the cops arrested or physically attacked the media. Up to 18 incidents and counting:
