101st Airborne. Deployed to kill Americans.

I know this is likely bluster. But, here is the President, the Commander in Chief, flirting with the idea of deploying the Army to battle Americans in our own cities. How is this not the beginnings of Civil War?

Officially, they are not, not in the sense that it alters how they carry out their duties.

He’s just mouthing off. It’s what he does.

Actually deploying the US army against citizens as police is straight up and plainly illegal. Technically the army can be deployed in case of insurrection or rebellion that makes it “impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings” due to a really ancient law but it’s hard to argue that protesters or a little light rioting count.

I hear you and I’ve been in this state for days too. I hope you find some good way to decompress. Peace.

Watching the military reinforce security in the White House right now really brings home what a total coward Trump is.

And yet you know he somehow thinks this makes him look tough.

What’s that even supposed to mean?

Cops aren’t “allowed” to act like normal people when they get called “stupid” and “dumbass”. They’re uniquely charged with the use of force to protect communities and enforce laws, but allowing anger to enter into that use of force is something they’re specifically trained NOT to do.

I have no idea why you would even type that. “Cops are allowed to be human and get pissed off”? Jeeze, dude.

He was afraid to walk his dock. I don’t blame him.

That’s precisely the argument they’re making. The police are incapable of enforcing the laws, the protesters are terrorists, so deploy the Army. When the looting starts the shooting starts.

And the reminder that Trumpists are morons:

Peace and love be with you all, especially those out protesting and those protecting them.

It gets worse.

They are allowed to do exactly what they did slap handcuff on guy who they believed to be wanted criminal. Instead of asking for identification.

I don’t know about you but if cop said are you Joe Smith, and I say no I’m not, and if they say I think you are. I’m not going to say. “You are dumbass, I know you are wrong”. I’m going to pull out my ID, and show it to him. Yes, if I’m black and I have had “the talk” from my parents I’m probably going to say “officer I’m going to reach into my pocket to get my wallet to show I’m James Black and not Joe Smith.” Yes, it sucks in America that young black men need to do this.

But cops are well within their authority to arrest people who they reasonably believe have committed in a crime, and as human there going to be more likely to use that authority for people who have insulted them.

Did they though? Did they? I think they knew it wasn’t the guy, but didn’t give a fuck.

Here’s the thing though. Shitloads of white people do that and much worse. All the fucking time.
My father was one of them. If a cop pulled him over for something, odds he gave the cop shit were near 100%.

But you realize you’re supporting them having to do it, right?
You assume, automatically, that the cops are in the right and that he’s in the wrong for doing what thousands of other people do every day. You instinctively take the cop’s side, even knowing the cop is in the wrong.

“Being black” isn’t reasonable belief. You give the agents of the State far too much credit.

Maybe it’s how my father raised me, but I was always taught, as a conservative, that the police and agents of the State, were never to be trusted or given an inch. But now conservatism is all about always giving the cops the benefit of the doubt and kowtowing to whatever they do or want. We used to need guns to protect ourselves from the government and we knew who the agents of that government were going to be: the police.

You trusted them as far as you could throw their cop cars.

Oh hey did we ever figure out if it’s okay to punch Nazis?

This is a weird way to kick off infrastructure week.

LOL, Kevin. Even in dark times, infrastructure week always delivers.

“Remain calm. All is well!”
