I’ve watched all three version of the videos (different lengths) which implies to me, they were edited differently. There is a hell of a lot more we don’t know than we do. In particular, we don’t know what happened at the beginning of the confrontation.
And how did that work out for your dad? More unarmed white men get shot by cops than black men, plenty get of white men beaten up and millions get arrested. Do you know the other group that gets treated badly by the criminal justice? men. The gender difference are just as bad as racial differences (so yes black men get a double whammy). The stereotype of the pretty girl batty her eyes to get out of a ticket has a lot of truth. But it is true across the board, women are less likely to charged with crimes, receive lighter sentences, get paroled earlier, even when adjusted for previous convictions. You know what else is generally true of women they are less confrontational with cops, and there are almost no women cop killers. So maybe women are smarter dealing with cops.
My dad was conservative also and he taught me to be polite to cops, and I think that’s actually a more common conservative view that what your dad believed.
Hold on now, I was assured that he can not do that! It’s against the law!

Later in life being a disabled vet tended to keep them at bay. And giving them his weapons carry permit before his driver’s license.
Oh you were polite until you weren’t. But even if it went well, you talked about how they were jackbooted thugs on a power trip, because often they were. And he had a State Trooper that harassed him for years. That lived literally a block away. But the solution to oppression wasn’t to sit down and take it, in his eyes. Because then it never ends. Or it ends like Ruby Ridge.
This is an abuse of statistics. Just sayin’.

Okay, but what does that have to do with your statement that they’re allowed to get pissed off if someone calls them a “dumbass” or “stupid”? I just have no idea why you would introduce that into the conversation as if it’s somehow relevant to what happened.

And to clarify further, “Federal” doesn’t necessarily mean “military.” The Feds have at least 3 police forces in DC: the Park police, the Capitol police, and the crowd control part of the Secret Service. None of them are military. (Capitol police wouldn’t be involved in this: this would be Secret Service along with perhaps the Park police because of Lafayette Square park.)
Edit: And to clarify even still further for people not familiar with the area - if you’re thinking “Park Police, they must be just guys who clean up litter and can’t possibly be ready for a riot,” think again. The Park Police police the National Mall, which is demonstration/protest central in DC.
I realize that it’s probably inappropriate to be laughing myself into tears, but this is just…it’s comedy, damn near.
