He looks so miserable. I love this picture – it’s like, “This sucks ass, but let’s get to the church, I’ll hold the fucking Bible up, then we can be done with this”.
Police in Philly surround protestors in a section of freeway, then drive them up an unclimbable embankment where they are trapped and gassed.
No question you are right, I never felt that cop would kill me as long as was polite, even when they had their guns drawn I didn’t think I was going to die.
Ok, this is genuine question. For the last decade of so I’ve heard prominent African Americans describe giving and/or receiving the “talk” to their teen-age son. I’ve never heard the actual substance of the “talk”, but I always get impression that it was when you are confronted by a police, be polite be respectful, keep your hands out of your pocket, don’t give them any excuse to shoot you. My dad never said anything about keeping your hands out of your pocket and he didn’t say this was a matter of life or death, but I got a variation of the talk also.
These are smart folks, who’ve been black all their lives. We know that it is no guarantee that you won’t be shot or beaten if you stick to the talk script but and I got to believe these people won’t be giving the talk if they didn’t think it would help their kids stay alive. Here is my question is it seems to me that guy in the video wasn’t following the script, and his parents would pretty pissed at him for behaving the way he did. Don’t you agree they’d be pissed, maybe even more pissed at their son than cops?. Not because what the cops did was right, but because he was taking an unnecessary risk in insulting them.
This take is the hottest one I’ve seen all day.

He’s just having a human reaction to a bad day. Poor guy.
Who hasn’t reacted to a bad day by denying the principles of causality and the linear flow of time?
Is this one of those Find-A-Word puzzles? What do I win?
I posted this in the other relevant thread
I don’t know how good or bad of a chief Michael Moore is. I assume “not good” based on the reputation of the department and what’s happened recently, yet I recognize that could possibly be unfair as I haven’t walked a mile in his shoes. But damn, get someone else to talk from here on out.
The thing is, these are military pilots buzzing protestors.
Nobody in the military seems to be pushing back.

Not everyone gets a talk but even if they did… my parents told me not only should I not get a credit card, but that I didn’t deserve one and the best thing I should do when I left home to college was not get one. Guess what I did… went right over to a booth and got one the next day and spent the hell out of it. It’s what young people do.
You want to talk about being human, that’s being human. When we talk about young black boys getting “the talk” the answer isn’t, man I guess that talk didn’t stick just right, or man his parents are going to be so mad or so sad to see that… it should be, why the hell does anyone have to be taught to fear the police? What the hell is wrong with my country that this is something we know happens and for some reason… we’ve been okay with that, for decades.
The police are an oppressive force in the eyes of many, and that perspective has been earned. The problem has been 400 years in the making, and it is their job, the public’s job, the officials’ jobs to earn that trust back. From where I am sitting, they’re still digging. We’re not even close to the path forward.

Glad to see the LAPD is fundamentally the same LAPD that beat King all those years ago.
I live in the suburbs north of Seattle and a Black Hawk literally overflew my house just now.
