It is. I don’t think they have officially any more than any other symbol of “rebellion”.

Yup, sure did. I think the cops teargassed those people too, for demonstrating per their 1st Amendment Rights when it was inconvenient for Trump.
It’s not inexplicable at all: as usual in these situations, cops are allowing (and indeed encouraging) looting to occur, so they can then proclaim the citizens are animals and have local business owners beg them to intervene. To quote the Twin Cities woman whose thread I posted a couple days ago: “Nice city you have there. Shame if something happened to it.”
That particular flag patch has been worn by Seal Team 3 members. But you can buy one on Amazon if you are a weekend warrior wannabe.

This is, of course, bullshit: police started firing tear gas at the protesters long before the 7 pm curfew. You can tell this either by looking at the many streams of the protests, or by, y’know, listening to the audio of Trump’s speech, where the canisters can be heard booming in the background.
