Apparently an over-aggressive show of force yesterday didn’t have the intended effect.

TLDL: Governor of Nebraska calls black pastors/leaders “you people”.
Because of course he did.

A discussion between General David Goldfein commander of the Air Force and Kaleth O. Wright, Chief Master Sergeant, senior enlisted advisor for the Air Force. Posted on the official Air Force twitter account:
Jeez, snowflake…he refrained from calling you “boy”, and referring to protestors as “strapping young bucks”. What the hell do you want?

This guy. He needs to be gone. You do not apologize for “you people.” You resign over it.
Is it really possible that people are so obtuse about the language of racism and how to avoid it? Unbelievable.

He’s unapologetically racist from a family of racists.
He knew what he was saying, he doesn’t regret it.
People? Maybe.
Politicians? Absolutely not.

Yeah, a lot of people choose to be because they don’t listen. They’re too busy trying to walk around racism by pointing out poverty, or the comparison of the day after day onslaught of racism and lack of equality to actual war. Or, if I am not mistaken, we had someone in this topic try to claim Black Lives Matter is a movement that started like right now, just for Floyd and not the grass roots that has been going on for like 7 years… complete with other protests! Complete with kneeling NFL players. Hell this topic itself is years old, and I’ve been posting off and on it for… years. Just stuff because it doesn’t stop. It never stops.
I’m just so frustrated with all of this. The discourse, the excuses, the bullshit and blatant racism that’s just all over our goddamn government. The system isn’t broken. It’s working for the racists who run it.
This is some nerd shit. Read accordingly.
Giving “Black” the proper noun case when referring to groups of people: What’s up with that? Is it just to get parity with Asian and Latin and Indian and whatever else? It bothers my editor brain, but I just saw it in the paper of record in my city so I’m guessing I’m just behind the times.
Super trivial bullshit in the face of everything, no doubt. But we’ve weathered tens of posts derailing this thread with way dumber shit (poor lives matter!) so my hope is we’ll weather this one.

I’ll toss this up again, it’s just a dude aggregating various streams of people on the ground.
In Atlanta I just saw a bunch of black men tackle a black looter and send him packing yelling “This ain’t us!” at him.
As curfews start to drop it’ll likely get uglier, but all day it’s been peaceful. Speeches, chanting, prayers that sort of thing.
This is really interesting. Especially #8. I so wish this was happening everywhere.
Something we haven’t really talked about… pretty much every participant has their cameras out and the ability to broadcast their footage. Everybody’s filming, everybody’s performing in front of a camera, looking for material that news organizations can cherry-pick to support their narrative. It just encourages the playing of stupid games. I mean, every night we see enough iconic photos to fill an entire Life magazine retrospective on the Civil Rights movement. The technology is just as out of control as Trump’s fetish for conflict.
We should definitely go back to a society where it takes a meteor strike of a rolling news camera to catch a black man beaten by power-tripping cops to spark a social movement.
This shit isn’t new. We can just see it now.

Think of the number of album covers were gonna get.
I’m not really sure what that means. This just happened a couple weeks ago in LA. Didn’t make much of a splash, but I’ll bet the guy who got beat for no apparent reason is thankful someone was filming.
Incidentally, it sure would be nice if Dems could get their own cities’ PDs in order. Maybe cut the flowery rhetoric and get some control first.

Not “don’t say that” or “don’t do that”. “Don’t put that over the air”.
WaPo live stream from outside the White House, 53 minutes after curfew:
Well, the rise and current explosion of (what we now call) BLM is directly related to the number of cameras we happen to have had rolling on cops behaving badly. By which I mean killing innocent black men. Now those cameras are rolling everywhere nightly and the footage is being broadcast around the clock on news networks.
We failed to stop the growth of an unhealthy-for-the-populace but revenue-generating, conflict-centric news machine, so now the video footage is being channeled to those two separate audiences. Have you checked the Fox News site lately? It ain’t what we’re sharing in here.
My observation is a general one about how humans and/or capitalism can’t seem to keep up with the rapid pace of technology.
