That is great. I’m going to steal that.

You’re the person who thought

wasn’t pejorative. I mean: I bear you no ill will whatsoever. But on the internet, it’s possible that when you go to insults, it’s likely you’ll get them returned in kind, you know?

It’s cool. I hope your night is a good one. :)

I don’t think anyone here is spoiling for a fight, and if they are, they’ll probably be more explicit about it. As a general request, please cut folks some slack before popping the claws out. :)

Whatever, jerkasaurus!

Right, I’m out.

Point taken. Sorry Oghier, and sorry Tom.

So’s ur face

Especially today!

Heynow! I look nothing like Evil Crazy Drunk Robert Pollard.

Line of very heavy thunderstorms headed for DC tonight. Kinda wonder if – with the bigger fence/perimeter today, if there will be much of a protest this evening.

On the 538 piece, I take exception to the way it elides the fact that it’s referencing 4-year-old data in order to jam a bunch of conclusions using present tense active voice assertions.

But don’t let me get in the way of anyone’s authoritah. Lord knows that must be respected at all costs.

My take away from the 538 podcast, along with the Vox article.
Is that there has been modest progress in reducing police use of force, and some against African Americans. Particularly in big cities like New York, I would guess that some attitudes have change. If for no other reason than, that old officers retiring and younger ones replacing them.

But it also seems very unlikely the characterizing white cops as being Trumpster is mostly true and changed since 2016…

That said these have been very peaceful demonstration, just to a use a single example the 1968 riots in Washington DC over 4 days resulted in 13 death, 1100+ injuries and more than 6,000 arrests. If it wasn’t for Trump there would’ve been very little violence (on both side in DC). Across the nation, we’ve see lots of Police chiefs and other police leaders march with the protesters. Right now in DC, there is very little police presence.

I guess what I find pretty encouraging, even though we are seeing Trumpister in police uniform, on the same street with young progressives and the country isn’t burning. Maybe we aren’t as polarized we think if we actually talk.

There’s definitely a pretty decent-sized crowd in DC. Some nasty storms moving through within the hour, probably.

Also: no curfew tonight in DC. (Not that anyone seemed to be honoring it.)

Wonder if Trump’s new wall will get knocked down by the wind /s

Twitter thinks they got him.

Cool. I had to look it up, but I guess Strava is like a social media network for cyclists? Internet wins again.

Yeah, it’ll be stormy, but as hot as it was today, the folks down there may welcome the rain.

But enough about Trump’s sex life

Yeah, I’d never heard of it before either, but apparently that bike was nice enough that someone thought he might be on there. I guess it’s a thing for cyclists.
