What really sucks is that one man’s name – who twitter sleuths believed was the suspect – was trending nationally last night.

And then this afternoon, the name of a former cop was trending as well as a suspect.

Neither man is the suspect taken into custody tonight.

Yeah, it’s a good rule of thumb for those of us who do social media: never out someone by name until things are known.

As one of my friends back in STL (who happens to do social media management and marketing) puts it, “You can’t put the shit back in the horse.”
