“Apologized”

Why the hell would we name bases after enemies of the State, anyway?

“Sailors! Welcome to Yamamoto Bay, formerly Pearl Harbor”.

Well, unlike Yamamoto, Bragg was actually an accomplishment member of the AMERICAN army, before he served with the Confederates.

However they didn’t build ft Bragg until around 1920, so i suspect they named it after him mainly for racism.

I’ve been shaking my head at some of his replies and tbh I don’t recall him in this thread much before this last few weeks, so I started to theorize and like I said I could be way off base, but it would kind of explain one reason why he’s responding the way he is. Otherwise, I really don’t know why he would continue with his line of reasoning if he did in fact know you were black.

There are some people out there with way, way bigger balls than I have. There are some great videos of people refusing to stop and be searched at border control zones, too. Cops really get flustered when refuse to be subjected to their shit (while white, of course) and you start asking them the questions.

A little digging shows it’s this guy. Wow, ballsy as hell.

I went to his upload list and picked this one to check out. Turns out he found a ridiculously nice, friendly cop in this episode. Why don’t we have more of this type??

I haven’t seen this posted yet: the Washington Post’s detailed minute-by-minute video analysis of the June 1st Protest and Photo Op.

Very compelling, though its analytical postmortem nature drains it of both the tension and confusion of the actual event. (In the the stream I was watching on the day, the “warning” that was completely inaudible, whereas in the WaPo video it’s merely unintelligible.)

I’m amazingly jealous of that guy’s font. And on cardboard too!

The measures range from a ban on the use of chokeholds to the repeal of an obscure decades-old statute that has effectively hidden the disciplinary records of police officers from public view, making it virtually impossible for victims to know whether a particular officer has a history of abuse.

Officials in Minneapolis moved to ban chokeholds and pledged to disband its police department.

A long ass thread. But worth it.

Our history has always been royally messed up, at least the way we teach it if we teach it at all. Social Media can at least make that… digestible even if I despise this snippet it approach, and yes I know there are tools out there for that.

History is written by the winners of wars. Essentially old white men.

Supposedly the north won… oh right, that includes Oregon and this state has one of the most racists backgrounds ever. Every once in awhile our local news stations or newspapers throw out a bone in February reminding everyone how bad it was despite it being in the north and a blue state. It was supposed to be a Utopia… whites only.

I’m not caught up with thread yet so apologies if this has been covered already but…

— Thank you for posting that
— Is there a link to the original video so I can share it with people who need to hear it?

Edit: NM, I’m a dummy. Found the link.

I am long past due on this, but I should give credit where credit is due. My little sister, who is about ten years younger than me, and white, actually found this video shared it with her friends and family.

Unfortunately since a teenager she’s been exposed to racism due to being around me, but I’d say this is really the first year she’s verbal about it, talking to people without me being around and actually seems to want to protect me by desperately trying to get people to take down some awful stuff they post in our circles though it never works because I see it in the end along with her please take it down request… but hey it’s sweet she’s trying.

It’s the little things that give you hope, I imagine, as I have no idea where you find the strength to deal with just the things I have seen you post.
