I was actually surprised. Maybe the Southern Confederate Flag waving contingent is smaller than I think. I would have that this would have been very tough to get support from particularly from any Southern Republican Senators. But a 25-2 vote is pretty definitive.

I’ve been assuming that the anti-Confederate Flag movement was a political problem in border swing states and definitely in the south. While I agree that the Confederate flag is something that a lot of horrible people are flying to show their racist nature, I was worried pushing on this issue could cost critical votes for winning the Presidency and the Senate. But maybe not, maybe the vast majority of southerners have moved past that.

Anyone from the South have any insights into how big the pro-Confederate Flag contingent really is and how pervasive it is? Where does the “centrist” Southern voter (where centrist is defined as centrist within the Southern political culture) stand on this issue.
